What do you think is the best game that never made it to a console?

I'll start by voting for XEXEX

  2. I cast my vote for either ESP Ra.De or Guwange.

Going a bit more oldskool, Gondomania would have rocked on a console, but I'm not sure how they would have done the controls...

Well the best game ever from the Arcades has already been released elsewhere.

    Pang!

There's 6 Cave Shmups that weren't released at home. IMHO they're ALL better than DoDonPachi DOJ which is a good game.

Dangun Feveron, ESPRade, Guwange, Ketsui, Progear no Arashi and Mushihime-sama, although there's speculation the last one will get a PS2 port. Snow Bros. 2 comes to mind as well, although I don't know if I'd say the best. Probably the port I want to see the most is Planet Harriers.

Sega is a famous by releasing tons of Good arcade games, and simply don't port them to consoles. And when they do, they don't add much stuff to increase the replayability.

Just compare Namco ports to Sega ports. All Namco games have tons of extras, while most Sega games are just the arcade game + some small minigames. Some exceptions are games like Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution and OutRun 2, that they added lots of stuff.

Plus i don't get why Sega don't ressurect all their succesfull franchises from the past to make money.

PS: I don't hate Sega, so don't flame me.

Because then we'd have to start calling them "Nintendo" ;)

Well, they're not doing too bad. Back when the DC was out, they said they were focusing on the future, not the past. That got them slaughtered. Since then, they've resurrected Shinobi, Shining, Outrun and Panzer Dragoon just to name a few.

Yep, they are improving, but they could do a lot more. Specially with this Sega Ages stuff. Virtua Racing is one of my next acquisitions.

Numan athletics, I prayed for a home port. Played this sukka to death, love the hardcore music track, kind of a precursor to Ridge Racer music.

    Emergency ambulance
    Willow (arcade version)

    Alien 3: the gun

Oh, I agree with you there!
Anyone remember the reg cards to the earlier US DC games how they had a "Win your own Jambo Safari/Emergeny Ambulance arcade game by registering your product!" ad on them?

Anyone ever win one of those?

jambo is naomi, so I can get that, but emergency ambulance was only a rom upgrade for the system 2 board.. very hard to get...

Star Wars Trilogy is one of the ones I wanted to be ported, never happened. The newer one made by Sega that is. Did the Police 911 game ever get ported, i would have wanted to play it more but it was always expensive ><

The Simpsons was converted to the powerhouse that the Commodore 64 was and a PC port was done too....

    Anyway back on topic...

    Daytona USA 2 - Sega
Ace Driver - Victory Lap - Namco
    Scud Race - Sega
Rave Racer (no the track in Ridge Racers don't count....) - Namco
    Speed Up - Galeco
    Winning Run - Namco
    Techno Drive - Namco

    See a pattern here...

i'm not much of an arcade player (probably since we don't have that many arcades here) but my all-time favorite game would have to be A Link To The Past (Zelda) on the SNES.

edit: looks like i had this all wrong. i didn't notice the "never" in the title...i though it was the best game ever released on a home system :D
