Probably not Guitar Hero and Def not DDR. But there are good ones. Samba De Amigo, Ouendan, Rock Band, Beatmania and DJ Max Those are my picks.
Amplitude and Frequency, the prequels to Guitar Hero, are fantastic. Rez was a milestone in music and games, and Vib Ribbon is also damn sweet. Rhythm Tengoku is possibly my favourite GBA game ever, and Elite Beat Agents is worth getting a DS for.
honestly, and im saying this just because of the fact that you can have yourself and 3 of your buddies going nuts at the same time, Rock Band.
I've tried just a few, but I would choose Rockband. You can play with lots of friends and it's really fun. Though the guitar that comes bundled with the game is crap. Countless hours of fun for sure!
Yeah it is, thats why i just use my GH3 controller :icon_bigg. oh yeah, and we use the GH2 controller for bass. EDIT: and i snapped my drum pedal in 4 different spots and rigged it with ducktape before i finally threw it away and modded a real kick pedal for rockband
Vib Ribbon, Parappa, Umjammer Lammy, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 2 is pretty cool, sometimes DDR, Space Channel 5, REZ, etc.
In order of best Samba De Amigo Ver.2000 Beatmania (only if you can play it) Pop'n Music (the later games after 7 or so) Drum Mania (fantastic timing needed) DDR Hottest party DJ Wars (cool once you get in to it) Parapa the Rappa I don't really class REZ as a real music game but more of a shooter / music hybrid. Still a great game but not something I'd class as the above. Piss poor music games are: Cool Cool Toon by SNK for the Dreamcast Jung Rhythm by Altron for the Saturn The dance section on Namie Amuro Digital Dance mix. Pyuo Puyo DA! by Compile for the Dreamcast Yakumo
'Nuff Said. Rhythm Tengoku was really my favorite GBA game ever aswell... its so damn perfect. I really do wish they gave it a chance in the US, but I dont know how well it would have done. Its so incredible... I cant get enough of it. Please, anyone that has never heard of it or played it, please do so now! And Ouendan (Elite Beat Agents) games are really great too. Damn.
Music games hearken back to what gaming was all about. Reflexes and timing and a rythem. At least Good ones.
Yeah, Rhythm Tengoku deserves to be played by anyone interested in rhythm games. The language barrier has no effect on playability as it is so natural and self-explanatory! Well worth it from PlayAsia. Oh, and the sequel is out now on DS ion Japan and it's getting an English translation, "Rhythm Heaven".
pump it up for the workout type games. (DDR etc) and percussion freaks for the music-timing type games. (beatmania etc) i think this new fad with guitar hero etc are terrible, they really do not resemble the real thing at all, might aswell play it with a joypad.
Beatmania! Pretty good tunes and a great arcade cab! Also genuine difficulty! Pop'n is OK but even on level 45 tracks, the timing is damn generous for a music game. Also the buttons hurt my ringed fingers!
Whoa, Sequel already out for the DS? Whats the japanese title of it if you dont mind me asking? And the english translation is Rhythm Heaven? Wasnt that the translation for Rhythm Tengoku? Hahaha, so confused. I need to find this sequel!!!
Guitar Hero 3 sucks but Harmonix maps out the games as if you are really playing the songs where GH 3 does not I LOVE PUMP IT UP the music is waaaaaaaaay better than DDR Music
you gave props to beatmania but that is nothing like a real turn table. and guitar hero isn't supossed to be realistic. It lets you pretend, and still requires the same timing as precussion freaks.
How is that Beatmania's music is awesome where DDR's sounds like something from a gay club in Shibuya.
