do what everyone does, buy all the 100 yen crap games and then return home only to find that they are unsellable. That or buy 3000 yen games and demand $100 for every single game you have, even though they can be found used for $20.

Then what do you suggest? They sell it to you at cost for free?
    Get real.

Hmm. I'd suggest exporting your arse out of Japan before either

    a) the game stores see you coming, or..
    b) they lynch you for being a pikey prospecting otaku. ;-)

Seriously, though, I'd get a Sega Astro City. You'd make a shit load on that if you took it back on the plane ;-)

 That made me laugh... all too familiar!
(though I got lucky a few times - such as buying that boxed Saturn modem for 1200y and selling it for 80e)

Truly there's no way to compete with someone buying off yahoo.jp and
selling on ebay. The shipping is atrocious , but if you build up a good rapport then they will eventually trust you enough to do surface freight which is much cheaper.

Well, I am kinda curious as to the original question, but then for non-game related items. I remember somebody posting years ago that it's better to export (custom) car parts with ridiculous margins. Surely the same must go for more stuff, perhaps watches?

Car parts are a special thing, me thinks. I think there's some regulatory crap you have to go through... and the stuff is big and heavy. The average person can't store car parts in their home.

I'm sure it varies by location but by and large I think there are few if any regulations for shipping individual auto parts. Now trying to ship entire cars or all the parts to re/build a car in one container on the other hand is a whole different story. At least that's how it is in the US.

Well, Rinkya makes you jump through some hoop if you're going to bid on car parts... that's part of why I asked. It might also depend on the country doing the receiving, not the shipping. Of course, I'm pulling this all out of my ass, but wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

Speaking of Rinkya and large items, I recall inquiring if they could arrange shipping for a Panic Shot Rockman machine. They couldn't and I cried myself to sleep that night. $200 for a Panic Shot Rockman and I couldn't get the stupid thing shipped.

You should have gone to Yamato (that's the courier company with the cat holding a kitten as a logo) as I've sent a pachinko machine with them, cost me 27,500yen.

Pretty sure Kuroneko (along w/ all the Takyuubin's) have limits which are even less than the post office. I see the max for a box is up to 25kg.

    I agree with this

You can`t really plan it out as you would spend so much time looking for 1 or 2 things that you may overlook other stuff

On many visits I have never gone looking for anything in particular.

Just keep looking methodically through piles of stuff and you may see things that you would not have thought about

Years ago I had picked up in the UK a PC-GT really cheap but with no games........then in one shop in Akihabara I picked up shed loads of cards for about 20p each.......so I bought about 20-30 different ones. Probably all crap........but for that price who cares.....probably won`t ever play any of them. Also I did pass up on a Turbo Shuttle for about £30...........the only reason was that I couldn`t carry any more shit on the plane back with me.

So don`t plan too hard.........you will see and know what you want when you get there............and don`t plan to much on making BIG bucks as these days have long gone!!

Esp with the yen being so strong...

Yep but that is still 5kg more then EMS and allows a larger box size too...

Anything larger then that then buggage shippers are likely to be better.

Although it can be more work and it's a lot cheaper to take the item to the airport, fill in the reams of paperwork, then pick it up at the airport, although you will have to pay customs clearance fees, storage and some other fees depending on the shipment.

EMS is up to 30kg if you're sending stuff to Europe or the US. So that's 5kg more than Kuroneko.

I'm far too drunk to check (w00t) but I believe EMS offers weights up to 30kg to most countries. In fact, I know they offer more than 20kg to the US b/c I just sent something that was 24kg.

I love how Exploting Japan has become the new IT thing to do. Even Japan is exploiting Japan.

I dunno about "new"; a fellow named Columbus thought exploiting Japan was the IT thing some 500 years ago. Of course he ran into some complications ;-)
