can you tell me if what I have is complete? Also is any part of it rarer than others?

 

It's the most complete I've seen but, you're best to ask Borman about that. I'm not very good with MS Equipment...

Am I able to both you with an overall photo of the box? Even if it's blank.

 

The box has an address for the return trip to Microsoft that it never took on it, I took it to be that anyhow.

apart from that it's just a plain box, it's clearly for the xbox though as the polystyrene fits perfectly in the box once the xbox is in.

ill post some pics in a mo, I got this for a great price on eBay back in 2008 and have recently got around to sorting my collection when we moved.

 

You can black out anything you don't want visible that's understandable.

It sounds similar to the Launch Team 2001 box, but instead this looks like standard unmarked/uncoloured MS packaging. Like the Power Supply Protection Cord.

Hope it's not too rude to ask, but what was the great price? I've never really seen an auction for this unit either. Only DVT4s and Debugs so I know the price of those...

 

I bought it on an open auction in september 2008 ( thats what the shipping info on the outer box it was all in says) for around £50, I guess the auction never caught fire and at the time not many people were collecting xbox stuff. It was also when the 360 was in it's prime, consoles tend to dip on the arc when the next gen is in it's prime I find.

Ok here are the pics, the first one is of the games as I received them. They came in plain amaray cases insinde jiffy bags, as they are all the same I am presuming this is how ms sent them out. The rest are of the box and any markings. The return label I have left unblanked, I am not the original consignee and therefore have little to worry about as none if it seems personal to any individual user.

 

Holyshit, very nice photos man. I'll add them to the Archive now. I've written up the page in the meantime. There's more information I'm sure I've missed. I'll wait for Borman to chime in and correct a few things, but so far so good.

If you like, you can remove the images if you feel uncomfortable them unwatermarked. I watermark the photos because I've had photos that were submitted used for eBay auctions...

I've now categorised the photos on the Archive. Photos look organised, and I'll now publish the page to the XBOX Archive Facebook page.

I generally use Photoshop for the job.

Depending how long 'years ago' was, the forums went under an upgrade and some things were lost.

 

Ive never seen one with a box, that is for sure. I myself have Whacked, MA, Unreal, and Revolt, which all match. I wish you hadnt pealed back that sticker the little bit though

As for whether or not they are complete, Ive never seen a complete one. But mine did come in similar cases, though I had no idea they might actually be legitimate hah. Sadly with Revolt, the game is the same as what standard testers got. Id be curious to know if the starter kit boots on the kit though or if that was something that was sent after. The Beta Live games are signed differently than others, which is why, apart from collectors, they dont quite get the attention games would otherwise have. I know I sent a few games to people but they never made anything of it.

So yeah, the boxes are the most rare of the bit. Lamborghini is the most desirable of the bunch, being unreleased, but the aforementioned issues above make it less desirable than, say, a normal prototype version of it. Ghost Recon is less common than the others too.

Certainly double check if the starter kit works on a retail Xbox, as Ive assumed, perhaps wrongly, that those didnt ship out at all until after the test.

 

The xbox live starter kit doesn't boot on the debug xbox, it does however boot on another retail xbox that I have. I presumed also it was sent after the beta concluded.

The sticker I peeled back out of curiosity and aprt from that it is in mint condition, are you aware of any other games that were included in the uk beta?

As far as I am aware the us had a different game, nhl or nfl IIRC.

What do you think of the overall value of the setup?
