That sounds like just about every industry I can think of... Games, films, finance, food, healthcare, etc.

I can't say I've followed the details of this story though, maybe I'm missing something?

 

Here's the deal: you don't get to pretend you're sticking it to the big corporations when you yourself are a bigger nepotist money grabbing asshole than EA or activision.

Here we see this people telling others "if you like to keep making games you better don't say anything about us or else...".

Of course corruption of any sort is bad, but it's not like the gaming industry is clean, or ever has been...

I clearly remember back in the ST/Amiga days games (and of course before) companies paid to get their games on the cover of leading magazines and were buttered up for good reviews (for shit games) Reviewers lied through their teeth, bad games sold millions and nobody was any wiser, well except for the poor souls lumbered with very bad games. Companies like Titus and Ocean spring to mind

Nothing new. Where there's money involved people do underhand things.

 

really i dont give a s**t about zoe quinn if it wasnt her it would be someone else....as people have already said pretty much everything is corrupt.....but what i would like to see, is when the corrupt individuals are found out that they get kicked to the curb for being so dumb as to get caught out,

i dont think "oh well everyone is corrupt" means no recourse should be taken....like if someone gets caught selling drugs can you just say "oh well i know tons of people doing it so its fine" no, even if everything is indeed corrupt you shouldn't just accept it or things will only get worse and worse, you have to at least keep the appearance of social justice

basically if all of this dies down and nothing happens because of it every emo goth and their coochie(or butt....guys can do this too....just not as easily XD) will be following in the footsteps and swamping the internet with BS game after BS game all getting 100/100 by whatever guy they slept with lately

 

You know, I actually take offense to this as I am happily married and have never had a flicker of doubt or inclination to do any sort of harm to my husband or to others in this manner. If I wish to further myself, it will be of my own capabilities. Not physical traits.

You seem to (again), have a very biased opinion of women as you have previously complained and as you seem to have not exactly noticed - the topic isn't in regards to gender bashing, it's in regards to corruption across the industry in general and yes, whilst she has essentially put a massive dent into gender equality in this particular industry in a negative manner, it's not particularly like the gender equality was fantastic across any partially IT-related industries. Part of the reason why I've gotten irritated of a large amount of people making assumptions that I am male as apparently a female cannot be interested in the industry or have a specialization in survival horror/psychological horror genres (as I am also developing a couple of smaller indie games at the current time too).

But you know, personal complaints aside, this kind of scandal and/or corruption being publicized in the past has caused complaints across practically every modern industry.

I am just disgusted over the fact of how much of a hypocrite that she's been combined with the fake/self-proclaimed feminist armchair "warriors" that blatantly have no understanding of the term that they're labeling themselves with and are causing more harm than good. She, herself is within this group.

You know, funnily enough.... A friend of mine and myself often point out corrections to their terminology and we've gotten massive backlash that we're apparently being anti-GLBT (fun fact: I have no gender, sexuality or skin tone bias. I just hate lazy people and liars) or that we're being members of the former Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. All for pointing out that they are simply being as sexist as they cry is happening to them.

They're a pack of attention-seeking morons and should be ignored. This factor should be but in the very least, I am of the opinion that every industry should be investigated properly for corruption as if this continues on... shitty titles and the like flooding the market in mass quantities with a large chunk of people reading reviews, then we should in the very least expect another crash in the future.

And this is what I mean by my earlier comment of this being a massive douche moment - how very hypocritical of her previous claims and then begin crying harassment when she was the instigator. And the others were aware of their actions with their involvement in the matter too.

Making herself out to be a victim is the typical attention-seeking behavior that is rather common that I've personally seen but if you essentially ignore it after the slightest amount of attention has been given, it will simply escalate onwards. The best that can really be done is to ignore her ignorant (and in my opinion, sexist, biased and self-degradingly disgusting for sinking to such actions) self but still show interest in clearing up an overall corruption of the industry.

In the end, it is the fault of all of those involved but she is the instigator and the others have admitted to their part. She shouldn't be given any special treatment in the matter. I just hate liars trying to wiggle out of a situation they have caused without any sort of solid backlash at them and this is what she has been trying to do.

The only reason this has spun out is again, armchair warriors of Tumblr joining in with the last couple of years absolutely useless feminist cries in regard to the industry (such as Anita being unable to get her facts straight and absolutely ignoring or deleting suggestions for decent comparisons) and a large chunk of this is just massively bullshit.

 

Believe it or not, there are more important things in the world than videogame reviews. Nobody who knows anything about videogames cares what those "journalists" say, anyway.

 

Honestly put, the only ones I read are with staff involved in development having an interview for particular titles and that's generally only if I'm unable to get in contact with them or that they're unable to answer questions due to legal agreements.

The most I do read of any gaming sites or magazines are typically from Japan. I only visit Kotaku to see what facts they've gotten wrong and I'm not particularly surprised to see staff from there involved in this bit of drama. Then again, one wouldn't really have a typically high view of the site if they had found out that a so-called industry veteran artist had stolen their own personal work, modified it and included it in a bit of a fan-art whatsoever and both of them deleted proof regarding it. But then I'm just bringing personal views and bias on that.

 

unfortunately they do hold a big influence over publishers and such....basically they hold the keys to the castle for many new and upcoming indie developers to get some time in the spotlight.......if they are just putting rubbish crap from people they have slept with up on show real hard working developers don't get the recognition they deserve and don't get the opportunities they deserve

Your first post does NOT say what your second post says. Darcagn is specifically talking about the bolded parts. Sexual favors are just that - sexual favors. But being a "whore" and consenting to sex with someone doesn't mean someone else can treat you like a whore. You've got some shit twisted up stairs dude.

A whoreish and unfaithful thing to do. If you can't be faithful in a committed relationship you should break up with that person before seeking out another mate. It doesn't take being cheated on to look down upon and call this for what it is "whoreish behavior". Consent is not where the fault lies, its ones honor and integrity.
