I am in the process of getting an XBox 1 Debug Kit - however, the pictures he showed me where of a black Xbox. However, it does seem to have the debug sticker on bottom. Here are the pics: However I thought the Debug Kits all had the green case? He described the XDK launcher and included programs so i assume it's legit...anyone else ever run into a black Debug Kit?
I guess your bidding on the one I also been looking at.. was going to bid on it until I saw that he had another auction of a broken xbox with the same picture. maybe he was just lazy and didn't want to take a pic of the other xbox.. but it got me to not bid on it.
hmm, i'll take the risk that it was lazyness...he's been on ebay since '01 and has a good rep...and he only lives a few hundred miles from here, I can always do a drive by in case of a rip off ;-)
It looks fine to me.It should have 128 ram as most DVT4 debug kits have. Now if it was a DVT3 than it could very well have just 64 ram.But its a DVT4 just buy looking at the pic.MS made both, the green debug kit and the black debug kit.
Yea, I won the auction, and after talking to the seller i'm fairly certain it's legit. Thanks for the help everyone! I'm sure i'll pester you with a 1000 more once I get it in ;-)
Hehe, I guess it was you I had the bidding war with. Congrats on the purchase and let us know more when you get it.
Ah! I might have known it would be a fellow Assemblergames member! You gave me quite the run for my money! Truth be told I was about $10 away from having to give up the fight! I should have it by Friday (the good thing about being in the same state as the seller - even ground shipping takes 2 days ;p) and will snap some pictures and see if there is anything of note on the hard drive before I swap in my new one. Also, as far as it goes, let me make sure I have the correct procedure down for installing a larger (120GB Seagate 7200RPM) HDD and playing retail games... For the HDD: I just swap in the new drive and then boot the system with the XDK Recovery Disc and recover? After which I copy the fdrive.dxt to E:\dxt and then format the partiton? Then i'm good to go? As for playing retail games, I *am* a bit confused here. What I have so far is a program called 'nodebug' whose readme states: Code: This file reboots a debug xbox with debugging turned off. Now you can play Halo ect without having to use a PC to do a xbreboot -p or use xSwitchx. Enjoy and happy hacking. PiXEL8 Does this allow me tu run retail discs or am I greatly confused? If not, what is the correct procedure for doing so (keeping in mind, I would rather *NOT* open the console more than I already did to swap in the new HDD - so any kind of modchip I would rather avoid!)? Also, as far as running homebrew, I can just use the XDK launcher to load whatever is on the HDD? I know the apps can be compiled for DEBUG or RETAIL, does the XDK launcher care? Or should I just launch my homebrew using whatever dash replacments are out there (and which is best?)? In the end, I do want it to launch to the XDK launcher at boot, and then load whatever dash instead of having it boot to the h4x0r3d dash directly, so as to maintain the 'cool' factor ;-) Any help is appreciated, and barring some disaster the answers you provide will keep me happy a long while!
Thanks! The price did seem good. I just hope it has the 128mb RAM. Seems to be a 50/50 chance going by some stuff iv'e read. Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice ;-) And good to see you around again OE. Life is too short and there are too many gadgets to yak about to let sillyness get in the way ;-)
99% of black Debugs have 64mb RAM, thats the idea of them being black in reality. 99% were made to debug/test specific applications/HW i.e most will only perform one primary function, providing it is still set up as per original build spec.
Plan on it only having 64 MB of RAM. That said, you'll likely not notice a difference for what you're going to use it for. Your best option for getting retail games to play is using the DXT hack these days. Oh, and score on the price. That's relatively cheap for a debug, even a black one. -hl718
I still wouldnt open it if the seal hasnt been broken Nice prive for the debug though, I wouldnt mind having one myself
