Awesome book! Some of Ambrose's other books are definitely worth checking out, too. The Good Fight and D-Day.
Last book I read recently and I enjoyed was "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman, and English author living in the USA. Weird piece of dark writing. After that I was back to the Rebus series (a detective series based in Edinburgh) and read "Strip Jack" by Ian Rankin. Normally I have two, sometimes three books on the go at any given time. I read a hell of a lot. The book currently sitting on my bedside cabinet is "Room full of mirrors: a biography of Jimi Hendrix" by Charles R Cross. I recommend all three.
Band Of Brothers, I want to read that book since I am a HUGE fan of the HBO series Hm, I recommend to the people who like historical novels, "I Claudius" by Robert Graves. And to those interested in Egypt, the Egyptian saga by Wilbur Smith. Starting with River god, followed by Warlock and the last release (and my least favorite of the three) The Quest. I also have an Adolph Hitler Biography to read, but that will have to wait until I finish other books...
I don't read that often. I read about 1 fiction book every 3 years, and a non-fiction or two in a year. Last book I read was The Road by Cormack McCarthy -- move due out this month.
Read this when it got released. Amazing stuff, really... like a mixture of The Quiet Earth and Mad Max 2. I didn't know they were adapting this as a movie, will have to check it out sometime though I don't expect much, McCarthy's extremely detailed descriptions left most of the stuff to the reader to imagine.
An assortment of books on different subjects... Human Physiology by Bernard A. Hussay Women who run with wolves....- Can't remember the author but it's probably a lesbian woman trying to make all of us who read the book lesbians. Not working with me.... 101 Defenses: How the mind shields itself- J. Blackman. Pretty interesting stuff
The 48 laws of power 500 years have gone by, but I might as well read "The Prince" by Machiavelli instead. I think the rules will never change.
If you are reading Mein Kampf , then remember NOT to take the book with you if you are thinking of taking a vacation to Germany. That book is MORE that just the usual illegal and banned in Germany, if you read the uncensored version of the book. No matter what language.
Well, it's not Mein Kampf. And I wish I could go vacation in germany... But alas! My budget is constrained... This hitler book is just a biography and it's even written by a german scholar. In any case, my Hitlerology studies have been suspended until further notice, I am so caught up with my present readings...However, I am always eager to expand my library with volumes on Hitler and Caligula. Two of the most infamous men in western history...
I doubt my boyfriend will approve of that, however, you could stay in my grandparents house.... In any case, why would a german in his right mind come to Uruguay???? That's just BONKERS!!!
