Anyone ever seen this? There is a webpage with a bit of info about the game and the small dev team who where involved. There is also a document outlining the game plan.
There is a video that you can download from the webpage or you can check it out on Youtube. I think it could have been one sweet game if it had been finished.
    Infinite Lives/HotGen Studios 2003 (Xbox, PS2)

Does anyone know if any beta or prototypes have been released for the game?
I couldn't find a lot of info regarding this and the only footage that I have ever seen is the 1 video which is on the webpage and Youtube.

Just wandering if anyone had any info? An what do you guys think of the pre-production video? Do you think it looked like a decent game?

It doesn't let me post links on here. Just google "Burnt Out Cop"
The first link is for the games webpage that I mentioned and the third link is a Youtube pre-production video.

I haven't seen any other footage of the game, so i believe that i may have the only prototype.:smile-new:

That does look like a lot of fun! What platform does your proto run on? It looks pretty high-res for a ps2 or xbox game... or maybe that's just me?

Also how complete is it - and any thoughts as to why it was canned? Seems quite far in development, the animations are superb.

Thanks for posting the links. That's about all the useful info I could find apart from some of the art work.

The proto is on an xbox but the menu screens and controls screen show a PS2 controller.
I thought the game looked quite hi-res for that generation of consoles and it was the animations that impressed me the most.
I only got the console yesterday so I haven't had a chance to test it properly, I have only loaded up 2 levels.
From the little that I have tested, I would say that the proto is very early stages, most of the scenes are not complete and there is a lot of debug information.
The version in the video seems a lot more complete than what I have got, although I will have to test to test it further.
Its possible that the PS2 version was more complete since the menus are for PS2.

I do not have any idea why it was cancelled. The two studios HotGen and Infinite Lives are still going. An HotGen's 2 other Xbox releases where far worse than this games looks.
They released Batman Dark tomorrow and EggMania but canned this great looking game WTF lol.

I will try and get some footage when I get a chance to play about with the console.

Those videos look like target renders, not gameplay.

I had some file saves for this game on some DVT4 units I got from HotGen years ago but alas, no actual data.

It does look very cool though and quite impressive for HotGen... considering they were behind Batman: Dark Tomorrow.

I was thinking the same thing, because the proto that I have is no where near that complete, an I don't think it ever actually got that far to be playable as the footage shows.

I have seen 1 or 2 websites with game art from the game, mostly from designers portfolios and there is a bit on DeviantART, but nothing else about the game itself.
I seen a article with an interview with one of the lead developers, but he didn't mention the game, he just spoke about his other releases.
An I did see a Facebook discussion with 3 or 4 of the team members who where involved in the game.

The proro that I have is on a debug kit, I bought the debug unit and a DVT4 from the same seller both originally from HotGen.
The DVT4 has a beta of Batman and some Batman models on it but nothing for this game unfortunately.

I will set the console up in a minute and have a little play with the game an see exactly what I have got.

Very cool that you found it. Let me know if you need any help backing it up for yourself, I've been tested by just about every kind of annoyance out there when it comes to backing up Xbox stuff.

Thanks mate, I definitely could do with some advice on backing this stuff up if you don't mind, I cannot find very much information.
I would like to use a method that does not require opening the system.

Also I have just had more time to test this game and it is definitely in the very early stages.
There are 3 small unfurnished scenes to choose from with static enemies that respond to damage but do not die, some just repeatedly jump up and down lol.
There is some sound and there are some other effects in the game.
There are a few weapons that can be used, but there doesn't seem to be a way to drop the weapons, it just has to run out of ammo before you can pickup another weapon.
There is debug information on the screen such as player headings and timers and other details.

It would have been great if the game was a little further in development and was slightly playable, but this is still very interesting to me.
I have created a a video but the quality is not great, its was filmed from my tablet, I will upload it soon and post a link if anyone is interested.

The easiest way is to have a Windows XP machine or a Virtual Machine (through Windows, VMWare, whatever). You can install Xbox Neighborhood, hook both the PC and the Xbox up to the same network, and from there you should be able to drag and drop.

Yup, I just actually commented in another thread that I use XP mode on Windows 7 (not sure what releases have it) for Xbox Neighborhood along with visual studio 2003. Works great.

He doesnt even need VS to back the things up though, should install Neighborhood without it :)

I have xp installed on a VM and have installed the XDK 5933. Is this the version I should use? I read somewhere that it was the last release.
The debug unit has got a XDK dash with number 1.00.5028.1, will anything get updated when I connect the xbox?
I was just cautious because when I was installing the XDK 5933 on the XP machine it said that the software could update the console over the network, so I wasn't sure if it would update the console automatically because it has an old XDK Launcher.

That would've been one hell of an awesome game. Kinda reminds me of Dynamite Cop on the Dreamcast.

Version number doesnt matter too much for these purposes. So long as you don't run the recovery software, it won't update anything.

OK thanks mate, that was the main thing that i was worried about. I will connect it up now and give it a go.
I will try the DVT4 first because I am not as bothered about the Batman beta stuff as I am about this.

Also I had read that this can be done using XP mode in Windows 7, but am running Windows 8 64bit and I read that it can be hassle getting it to work on a 64bit system. Not sure about this though?
I like using VM's anyway I can keep my stuff more organised, I have a couple of linux ones for other development stuff and I have triple monitors so I can use my VM's in full screen.
