Well, my router does support that, but I would have to reprogram every single device on the network to support that ip address range, and I just don't have the time to do that. I apologize.

i tried it on my DTL-H50001 but it failed to install the game(half life, SLES-50505).
not that i need it to work on that machine :p, since i have to replace the kelf anyway with a wobble kelf.
still have a few other consoles to test SCPH-10000, SCPH-50004, SCPH-35001.

Thanks, but what actually happened when you tried installing Half Life? Did it even start installing the game or was the installed game broken?

i'm sorry i just rememberd it wasnt half-life, it was medal of honor frontline(SLUS-20368P3, from the Medal of Honor Collection).
i just tryd it again with medal of honor and half life. for medal of honor i enterd a full name, a first and second osd name, used the default icon, and then got "A write fault occured. Please send your disk for repair". half life worked just fine.

Could you please try using another disk? Write errors are real unrecoverable errors, as far as I know so far. :/

I was getting things like that with my SCPH-10000's HDD, two days ago. I got the entire thing zero-filled since that disk I'm using is known to have problems, and it seems like the write errors have gone away.. for now.

But either way, thanks for helping out with testing this software. It has been a long and difficult road for me, since it's such a huge system that was full of problems. D:

yep, that error usually means your hdd is bad... though it happened to me once, and using a different gamedisc worked fine...

if your drives work fine elsewhere dont call them doomed!
if other games dont work, try using a non-sony hdd, and if that doesn work, i dont know ._.
note: when i was told my hdd was broken, i was under the 127GB limit (dictated by the HDDOSD). i know my drive clicks somewhere near the end but not in the area the game was to be installed...
i guess its somethign with the installer :/

    I meant a different HDD.

But to reduce the number of factors involved, you should install the same problematic game on a different disk, to be sure that the installer doesn't have problems installing certain games.

EDIT: Please ensure that you have more then enough space as well, as the installer doesn't have a way to check for sufficient space.

Are you sure that you got the same error if swapping your game disc solved it? Read errors will have a different error message.

Do you have any other disks, other than Sony ones? Right now, we need to be sure whether it's a problem with the installer or not. If you don't have other disks or won't want to take the trouble to help with this sort of testing, it's fine too.

I can't say whether your disks are faulty or it's a bug in the installer, since I don't even get this problem. :/

Although, having four disks with bad sectors sounds a bit difficult to believe... but also not really impossible because they are probably quite old if they are Sony disks.

    Thank you!

Even if the drive doesn't make a clicking sound, it could be accessing bad sectors. The clicking sound only means that there's physical damage. My Sony disk that died a few months ago never made any clicking sounds as all, but now has tens of thousands of bad sectors.

v0.801 released - includes network support fix

    Changelog for v0.801:

    1. Added a network status screen (Press SELECT to access it).
    2. Games are now adjusted by pressing the CIRCLE button at the main menu instead of SELECT.
    3. Fixed the loading of the IP address configuration. The file size was being retrieved from the wrong call to lseek().
    4. Cleaned up IP address parsing code to remove the compiler warning.

@Translators, thank you for helping out with translating this piece of software. Unfortunately, I've added one more screen (the network status screen)... so I need a translation for "Network status". Simply either post this translated label here or PM it to me, and I'll add it to your translated files. :smile-new:

Check out the link to the project page within the first post for links, downloads and more information.

That is understandable, hence why I wrote that it was going to be dysfunctional for you. :(

But I've fixed the fault, so please try it again! :D

And... thank you for reporting this fault. I knew that the fault possibly existed, but wasn't sure whether it was really there or not since nobody complained about it. D:

Plugging them into a PC and zeroing the drive is about the only way to check, this can be a kill or cure though. Trying to write to a bad area of the disk will make it reallocate one of the spare areas in, although eventually they run out. That might be what is happening here, I don't know if there is a way to mark a bad block on a PS2 disk.

It's not your fault. It's nobody's actually. In a small CBT, faults may not be detected because there are too few people testing it.

When it sees a public release, the software will pass through the hands of more people and it will see more people doing different things with it... and then weird bugs may appear. :topsy_turvy:

I don't think that there is. When data can't be written, you will just get an I/O error. Formatting the partition only takes a few seconds, so it isn't a full format (or rather, there isn't such a thing).

This was what Sony had to say about dealing with bad sectors:

Downloaded the new release an hour ago. I still get a black screen. You said you added a function to hit select to check network status, and it isn't even letting me do that. I'm not sure what the problem is at this point.

I can still ping the system at the address I gave it.

EDIT: I should probably specify my setup at this point.

I'm using only OFFICIAL Sony Network Adaptors (I have two, I've tested it on both), a 120GB Segate Drive, an OFFICIAL Sony 8MB Memory Card (which at this point is pretty much useless but..), and a Sony PS2 SCPH30001R.
