Some number of years ago Microsoft shipped people a circuit breaker power cord. I'm in the process of hooking up all my old consoles again (DC, PS2, OG Xbox) and that breaker cord is tripping as soon as it is plugged in now. I've disassembled my Xbox and don't see any scorch marks around where the connector attaches to the board and the internals look fine visibly (no scorch marks, no bulging or leaking capacitors). Do these cords just fail after a period of time? Is there any reason I should replace it only with another circuit breaker cord or should I be fine with a regular cord?
The cord was only for v1.0 systems (maybe 1.1 also) that had a specific power supply, I can't remember the type of power supply but it was prone to shorting. Update: Foxlink power supply. http://legacy.the-junkyard.net/articles.php?action=viewarticle&id=215
I have many of these cables and use them with all Xbox revisions. They do fail over time, I've had a couple that even not being connected to a Xbox would trip as soon as being plugged into power.
My power board is a Delta, so seems that I'm okay using a regular cord. If I can find one Thanks for the help.
