The WiiU makes me question whether they did any kind of focus group testing or not. If they did I don't think they did it in any western countries with anyone who plays a lot of games. It just seems like a huge gamble after the Wii and a lot of shovelware sold well. The screen is kind of interesting but it brings the cost of the console up too much. Why spend an extra $150 for something that doesn't get fully utilised? It's dumb. Had they launched a straight up "Wii HD" at a lower price point I imagine that would have done better. The price is the real killer to me. I've held a WiiU box in my hands many times with the intent to buy, then put it back on the shelf.

Nintendo seems to think it's still the NES era or something. That stubborn attitude of not making any concessions to anyone. Is that a Japanese thing or something on a more individual level? They should try listening to the people who have been buying their products for 25 years. Listening is what got a bunch of features added to the PS4. Not listening is what gets you the WiiU or the Xbone.

It'd be nice if, in a year or two, they announce a new console with gamepads. A straight-up games machine. No motion controls, no cameras. Just pure games. It could also be more powerful than the other 2. 1080p@60fps for ALL games, good dev tools etc. They'd make a killing.

Sadly that'll never happen and if they ever do make another console you'll control it purely with ants or something. Yeah, you'll have to either go outside and collect ants or buy a Nintendo ant farm, then place the ants on a pressure pad and hope they perform well enough to let you win.

I love the Wii U , I use the controller on it though , Nes Remix is quite fun. I play it more than my PS4 or Xbox One but I also play My NES more than all of them so I guess that's not saying much ;)

about my take, though ive not played Pikmin 3 so would prolly toss in WW HD or All-Stars Transformed.
it's good, but it could use more games...ive spent the most time so far on VC stuff like Earthbound, and the 30c titles (which they need more sales of). unlike the GC i think the 3rd party support is welling up even faster, which is a shame but ill still have a stable of great 1st party stuff at the gen's end so i'm good with that.

I know I said in my last post that I'd edit it if I thought of anything else, but I figured that the situation of WiiU's Virtual Console service deserves its own post.

With that said, what the fuck's up with the total lack of Virtual Console games on WiiU? To go by North American releases, there are 69 VC titles available now on WiiU... but in 15 months' time, the Wii had 204 titles available. In fact, for funsies let's get some numbers going here for titles per console for Wii and WiiU in these 15 month periods:

NES-61 on Wii, 41 on WiiU
SNES-29 on Wii, 28 on WiiU (it seems like the WiiU SNES VC will soon already surpass that of the Wii's, so props here I guess)
    N64-12 on Wii
    Genesis-46 on Wii
    TurboGrafx16-48 on Wii
    NeoGeo-8 on Wii

What's troubling about this list, in addition to showing off how few titles are available on WiiU, is that it also shows the lack of variety on WiiU, bringing me to my next question: why are there no N64 titles yet on the VC? I could understand possible contract/licensing issues holding back Genesis/TG16/NeoGeo at the moment (however scant those chances are), but the Wii got SM64 at launch, yet here we are almost a year and a half in for the WiiU, so where's our Super Mario 6ohdeargod they're gonna stick us with that piss-poor DS remake instead aren't they

Oh and one last tiny issue (but kind of an insult-to-injury thing): why oh why is Earthbound $10 instead of $8? I see no real reason for this beyond Nintendo wanting to take advantage of EB fans' long-spanning desperation to get the game re-released.

    Pros:
    Pikmin 3
    Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
    Nintendont from Crediar
Wii/Gamecube with good scaler to 1080p
    USB Loader GX working

    Cons:
300€ for another console with no catalog? I will give you 180-200€, 300€ is a joke.

There's a certain albatross around the Wii U's neck which bumps up the price big time...

Not gonna happen, Nintendo has enough cash on hand to survive at least another dud console.

As noted before, Nintendo is paying for the development of Bayonetta 2.

That would legitimately save the system. Hell, even a 2DS adapter for the WiiU (since the 3D requirement is out of the way now) would keep it going until some more excellent first party titles show up.

I'm pretty sure the Wii U will be the next system I get, I already have an XB1, but you can't play Nintendo games on it, and that has and always will be the biggest selling point of any Nintendo console. Yeah it's not as graphically advanced as the XB1/PS4, but as long as Nintendo (and the third parties they want to work with) can make excellent, unique games for it, they'll get sales.

I have one and it's pretty nice but it needs way more games to keep me busy. It's library isn't as bad as everyone says but it is still bad.

I picked up the Zelda Wii U with Ninja Gaiden and the Wonderful 101 for like $230.00 or something like that when Newegg had some crazy sale. I have to say I do like it, I just wish like everyone the library of games were there. But I picked it up because I have hope. They are killing the handheld market right now, and if even a inkling of that effort comes to the Wii U, I can see this console exploding.
