Wish I could test it that D-pad looks clicky like the XBOX One pad is Yeah let me know It has the right look to it and if it works for Dos games I might get a few old PC favorites too. It's a 128 gig card I'm putting on this thing.
Down the line I'm getting the Famicom version. I have this as well but it's a novelty at best https://www.amazon.com/ibuffalo-But...34469&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=I+buffalo+famicom
Tested out that Madcatz controller. It just doesn't work man. Detects it as a keyboard, but only the D-PAD and Media keys actually respond. Switching the mode doesn't change anything except making the D-Pad not work anymore.... plus it can't be wired directly via USB and it runs on 2 AAA batterys.. Skip it.
AH the quest continues. I'll ask around and see if that other controller works. In the meentime I'm getting a PS3 Neo Geo Stick and I'll use a Super famicom controller/PS2 Retrocon
If the controller can be connected via USB, then it should be fine. Most games will work fine with dpad and 4 - 6 buttons. Obviously, PS1, N64 and such need more buttons most of the time. In my honest opinion. The Wii U Pro Controller is the best option. Its comfortable, the Dpad is great. The button layout is ideal. It has the full range of needed buttons plus one extra, which you should be able to map to exit games or something else (save state maybe? etc.). Seriously consider that one. https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii...UTF8&qid=1470145533&sr=1-1&keywords=wii+u+pro Only downside is that the USB cable is only for charging, so you cant plug it in and use it as a USB controller, which isn't a big deal, but still something to consider. Of course the controller can be used while plugged in, so that's fine. Just know that you will of course need either a Raspberry Pi 3 or a bluetooth adapter.
Wii U Pro controllers are almost the same amount as a Dual Shock 4. And it has 2 extra buttons. The touch pad can be pressed, and it gots a home button.
Thats true. Plus it is able to be plugged in via USB. So, yeh ps4 pad is also a good option. Doesn't have 2 extra buttons though?
I meant that DS4's cost almost the same as a WiiU pro controller. Also the DS4 has a home button and you can press in the touchpad for another button. I suppose for most emulators you could use them as Save and Load buttons. Or to open the menu in mame. Or instead of using the touchpad for save and load, you can use the touchpad as a mouse, forgoing the need to plug in a mouse. In case you wanna load another emulator. This is assuming you use DS4windows.
I use xbox one controller. I was a fan of the 360 controller and took a while to get used the xbox one controller. But I can't go back now. I use the wireless receiver, but emulationstation under Windows and it all works great.
So it's not that hard to get an XBOX One controller running now? I already did the whole controller customization thing just for a controller to use on this thing.
Xbox one controller works perfectly under Windows, no experience with the Linux based emu distros though.
