NOW.....before you all start lecturing me on piracy and what not.I will point out EVERYTHING I burn is something I already own. If not on Dreamcast at least on another system. Ok that said. Over on Destructiod Yesterday somebody posted a version of Marvel VS Capcom 2 with the music replaced. I download it obtain disc juggler and give it a go. Hmmm not bad. Then I decided to get Disc images for other games I own that won't boot. I found this interesting CDI it had a gameshark, Action replay, a VMU Tool, Some BBA tools, Ikaruga (for some reason), Super Street Fighter II X for matching service, Marvel VS Capcom 2, Capcom VS SNK 2, and Super Puzzle fighter II X and 3rd all on 1 disc. Because of all this grouping 3rd strike had it's music aped and thus the experence is not authentic. I also have this shooter collection somebody cobbled together. So for those that do back up their Dreamcast games have you stumbled on any really interesting custom compliations?
I make my own custom soundtracks for DC games. I also rip my own. Downloading disc images for games that don't work anymore is still piracy. That's like owning parts of a Ferarri and saying "Yeah...I have a ferarri." and then stealing someone elses.
Would love to see some pics of your originals of the shooter games, as some of the DC shooters are quite hard to get hold of, even some of the beat'em ups are getting more difficult to obtain these days As for the piracy thing, just because you own something on another system, doesn't give you the right to download it on another console format as for example, a game say on the ps2 may cost £1 where as the same game on another console maybe £50 Just my two pence worth...
I did some little Sonic Adventure PVR retexturing in this thread, but never created an ISO from it (though some sort of patch would be more appropriate). I don't think these custom Dreamcast discs you are talking about are anything special, as it's easy to use a program that enables you to load multiple Dreamcast applications/game data in one disc. In .ADX format?
There ya go proof I own at least MOST of what I'm talking about. But look at all these rare Dreamcast and Saturn games. Alot of the companies that made games on these systems no longer exist or have no presence in the US. or UK Buying these games new is out of the question becuase it's just pure profit to somebody else who owned the game before hand. The companies making these games have no intent on reissueing these games either. The DMCA states that it is ok to download and distribute games in that situation if and I quote "the means to play them is obsolete" Sega stopped making hardware in 2001 they just now stopped stopped supporting it with repairs. I'd say that's pretty obsolete. and as you can see I legit own quite a few Dreamcast games as well so it's not like I have a closet full of CD-rs of games I don't own (and the ones I do have a friend of mine gave me) So think about that for a bit.
They are illegal regardless of if his discs still worked. @GodofHardcore: No. This has been explained plenty of times before on the forum. Use the search function.
If it wasn´t GoH who had made the thread, then you wouldn´t have been so damn double standardised (sp?) over it.
I know there are other people that do what I do here.......where are they? I'm spent on explanations though. I'm pretty sure either way it's still fair use. Anyways no use arguing. (must remain calm) I noticed these custom discs with multiple games use the web browser.
Bah. This is a crazy statement. He owns the disc but it doesn't work so he can't burn a disc that does? You'd never argue that if it wasn't this loon. I understand your opinions, but come on. Even I consider that "fair use"
Loon? Can't you do better than Loon? Really, I'm pretty sure I'm batshit loony. But AHEM lets put that behind us. anywho. Not only do these burn work....they work BETTER than the legit copies. Like I was playing CVS 2 earlier my legit copy in this dreamcast skips freezes and takes forever to load. The Burn works just as good as my legit copy did on my first Dreamcast. No issues at all.
No it's true. That's like getting a busted NES game and then downloading the rom claiming it's legal. it's not. as for Hardcores discs working better, they most likely have downsampled music.
But the rom wouldn't be running on the actual hardware. This is. I think they do have downsampled music. 3rd strike I KNOW becuase they raped the music and it only plays the round 2 music all the time (boo)
Thing is, you'll kill your GD-ROM drive eventually. IMO, it's down to you. Of course, you're going to stir up a bad reaction by starting this kind of thread as it serves no real purpose - you don't need our permission to do what you are doing and it is obvious that some of the forum are going to get mad and the others are going to not give a shit. If anyone answers your question about finding things in compilations, they're going to get flamed for being a dirty no good pirate. In the end, any kind of piracy threads get closed.
Funny how the piracy argument comes up on here time & time again. What about all the people on here who go crazy over unreleased games, it's still piracy no matter how you try to justify it. Sonic xtreme & propellor arena are pirates but some people think they are perfectly ok to own, nobody here has the rights to own or burn copies of them yet it still goes on. Makes no difference if it was released or not at the end of the line if you didn't create it you have no right to own or burn a copy of it. Wonder how many here who take the moral high ground have played the pirate of the rez proto floating around?
Agreed. It's not even worth debating. The majority of people here are involved in some kind of illegal game related activity and ultimately piracy if they are playing leaked games/prototypes.
