So you're basically wanting to take the RGB from the system and output as Component video in it's native resolution? You could possibly make some modifications to the system and use the current C-Sync without splitting it. Could you open up the unit and take some photos of the PCB?

    Yes, basically that's it.
    Saturn RGB > 9A60 > Component TV

Pics inside the 9A60 or Saturn?

The 9A60 if you could, since component video only needs C-Sync we can probably bypass that part and add it to the output on the Y/Green RCA.

Don't combine the two pins. Correct (industry standard) way is connect "CSYNC" to "HSYNC" on the input device and leave "VSYNC" disconnected.

What about Sync-on-Green RGsB? Is that just C-Sync connected to Green?

Not connected. More like "mixed". You use a special circuit to mix the sync signal with the green without disrupting the signal.

Same with combining the two syncs. They're digital so you use XOR ports (74LS86) to mix them into CSYNC.

Ah ok. I've read that RGsB is the only way to get VGA out of a stock PS2. Could this apply to the Saturn?

I doubt Saturn was designed to move sync over to green when it detects the video signal is 480p or greater.

RGsB yes. PS2 and PS3 don't output industry standard VGA.

What make you think that way ? In 15Khz it outputs SCART/Peritel compatible signal.

In progressive mode it outputs VESA Sync on Green (VESA SoG), which is actually a industry standard signal. Because it's expensive to support it, there's a tendency of only high end displays supporting it.

I didn't say it wasn't part of another standard. I was referring to VGA.

VESA is what defines the VGA and all derivative standards. SoG is a optional feature (subset) of VESA so there's a chance you can input SOG video on a monitor through it's 15 pin input and it work properly...

But IBM launched the PS/2 before VESA was formed.

Do simple wires with pins exist, so I can individually connect DB15 and 10-pin for testing?

If you mean pointing to the IBM 8514 board, point is moot as it is so old there were no such thing as SoG back then. ;)

Anyway VESA is the current entity which defines video standards pertinent to computing.

Why is 5V disconnected? If you use a fully wired VGA cable, I would recommend connecting 5V.
