I saw it yesterday, epic film imo. The Joker was by far the best character in the whole movie. You would truly believe he was nuts. Excelent movie, you should all go and see it
Been hearing raving reviews. Christopher Nolan is a great direction (Memento, anyone?). Comes out here on the 9th... I'll likely just see it in the states next month though... the crowds will hopefully have died down.
I think..........I don't care. I think I'm going to wait for a home release. I thought it was stupid they had to make the Joker look "scary" for the modern age of shit. Jack Nicholson was perfect because that's his actual face, it's not makeup. I dunno. I heard it's good but none of them ever saw the old one. I thought whatever his name is was a good Batman on the outside, but his voice sounded like a Batman impersonation, or like it was forced or something.
I dunno, personally I wasn't interested so much to see this film till I started realizing it was more centered on a darker look than the camp crap of that one with Arnold :banghead: I generally prefer the more darker tones as it's not something I get to see often in anything I watch. I mean most movies I see are all happy and crap, so this attracts me for some reason Plus I just think the darker stuff is..coolor?
dude, after watching Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, the more you think about the older movies, the more you realize how silly they were. sure jack nicholson was a classic joker and what not. but christopher nolan's movies just blow those out of the water.
I saw it at midnight on the 18th, and it was by far one of the best movies I've seen in a LONG time. I almost went to go see it again, but I realized I would've spent $15 on the same movie within two nights... Yes, it's damn good. Go see it.
Yeah, I know, I think it's because there older. Regardless, In Batman Begins, especially near the end of the movie, Batmans voice is pretty damn goofy.
Well, the Joker Jack Nicholson was portraying was a completely different style Joker than the one Ledger was doing. The Joker of the 70s-80s was more of a classy criminal mastermind (albeit still insane), whereas during the '90s he slowly became more psychotic, and this idea eventually peaked with Alan Moore's "The Killing Joke". And honestly, Heath Ledger pulls off the "Killing Joke" era Joker PERFECTLY! He's right out of the comics. Its insane how well he does it. Ledger really stole the show in Dark Knight and just did an amazing job all around. The writing was also superb, and is easily up there with Loeb's Batman writings (which, given that the big story the Nolan brothers are basing a lot of this off of, "The Long Halloween", is a Loeb story, thats good!). The entire thing is incredibly well crafted, and the plot twists are genius. With Batman Begins, I kinda felt like the movie dragged on a lot at parts. With Dark Knight, the movie hits the ground running and never lets up. Its incredibly intense. Two-Face... eh... I don't know. The guy pulled off a good Harvey Dent, but I wasn't too impressed with the Two-Face portrayal. Mainly because I couldn't line him up with any of the Two-Face type deals in the comics. I mean, he was cool, and the CG for him is AWESOME, but he just got horribly outshined by the Joker. Also, while Bale does an excellent young Bruce Wayne, I find his Batman kinda corny. Mainly because he tries to hard with a raspy voice when he speaks, and thats kind of... weird. All in all, I think Dark Knight is the movie of the year, and is definitely a must see for anybody.
Yeah, thats what I mean! I've heard a ton of people say Ledger was awesome and did a great Joker. I've heard too many good things about it that I kind of want to see it now. I'm glad it's good!
"I'm gonna do a magic trick. I'm going to make this pencil disappear. tahdaah!" i was hooked from that moment on.
I am really looking forward to seeing it. I'd have gone today had it not been for the fact that I wanted to take the kids to see Wall E (which is an excellent film btw). There really is no point comparing the old films with the newer ones. It's an entirely different era. People expect much more edge and the films cater for that totally different audience. Films such as 'The Crow' and 'Blade' have had a marked impact on how these dark pictures are shot, acted and edited. Ooooooh, can't wait now! Might go on my own next week!
I think Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar for his performance. I'm pretty sure this is the first movie I've seen him in, and he was damn good. It's just unfortunate it will be his last.
If you are fond of Frank Millers work, then you love the first Batman with Bale, well I loved Frank Millers Batman, and I am going to enjoy this movie, when it comes out on DVD Frank Miller is probably the mainman when it comes Batman becoming an extremely dark character, in his Dark Knight epic there he shows Bruce Waynes real dark sides. heck Frank Miller has gotten too little credit for his work. Which is sad, and heck his Daredevil metarial got brutally raped in the movie of the same name, and he has a very tiny role in the movie. Talking about an anti climax. if it was´t for Frank Miller some comics would have that particular rebirth, that they have had.
The Batman voice is really the only negative thing I could point to about this movie. Ledger was awesome as the Joker. I had major doubts about him and I take it all back. He stole the show. All hail the disappearing pencil. Eckhart was also great as Two-Face. The writers also did a great job with his portrayal in the story. Two-Face is a hard character to write for. If they had used too much of his comic book roots he could have easily become too campy for this vision of Batman. By using him as a fallen hero instead of an eccentric criminal he fits perfectly. Bottom line is this the best Batman movie by far. Go see it...
I want to see it now. I gotta wait for home release though. The theaters here are god fucking awful. Apparently there sound is out on the right channels now. My girlfriend works at the theater so I know how much it sucks. Seats haven't been upholstered for 20 years. Gross.
