What is the point in that? It's completely unplayable and even after a few years work it still won't be worth bothering with at all.

Does there have to be a point? Even running slowly it's a nice technical exercise.

Yeah its a technical exercise, but have you read the note on the right.

20-30 minutes of loading , and after the loading time its still slower than a snail :eek:h:.

But hey its very interesting to see what they can get out of the psp in the future :110:.

According to the author, it seems to be for making NullDC more simpler to port and optimise if pushed to other systems.

Uh no, they never said that. Simon Jeffery (the SEGA of America president) said "You are playing Dreamcast quality games on it" and that the iphone processing power is equal. That is it. If they are equal, then emulation is damn near impossible. And again, thats just processing power.

just getting into C/C++ & app coding so excuse my ignorance, but as the DC is PowerVR based and the gfx chip in the iPhone is a derivative thereof, would emulation be possible via virtualision as opposed to outright emulation of the GPU? I understand that sound / SH-2 emulation would be purely software (iPhone CPU is ARM isn't it?) but surely that'd be fine with a compatibility layer for said GPU?

No accounting for input method, more POC, if I'm off the mark then shoot me :D

I can't fully say since I don't know the full specs about the iPhone. Generaly going off whats avalible on the iphone I don't think the GPU is powerful enough to be able to do a 1:1. I think the CPU would still have to take care of some parts. I personaly think I would need to research more into the iphone specs (not sure if thats posible, i've not seen solid specs anywhere) before I could make a serious conclusion.

Not directed towards you, GodofHardcore, but I just want to personally slap the shit outta people who post & spread this kind of BS news on the internet & other gaming forums, and others like "E308 Simon Jeffery Destroys All of Your Hopes For Dreamcast 2, Shenmue 3, and Seaman."

Well perhaps porting DC games is possible at least.

what's the point, considering the lack of a proper controller?

The Saturn emu ported to DC is pretty interesting as well. Only runs at about 10fps if you're lucky. Still, it's just awesome to witness Saturn games booting up on your DC from a technical stand point.

As Jamtex said, even if it is slow, it's a feat.

Yeah but a lot of that deals with the port being in interpreter mode (if I remember correctly). If done right, you probably could have a good fps out of a saturn emu for dreamcast.

Actualy I ported Yabause to PSP with unfavorable results (it was just for kicks). :(

I don't think you guys realize it, but in the future you'll just wear gloves and stick the PSP in a time warp where time passes like 120 times faster and then it'll seem like full speed to you. :p

It's an amusing technical feat but I'm sure no one expects this to be anything more than that. Well except retarded PSP fanboys.
