You guys are too funny. But yep, its probably a safe bet that some Neo roms were encrypted and people didn't know how to deal with it. But on that note, don't most ROMs come decrypted? Or do most emus usually decrypt on the fly?
Just an FYI for anyone who ordered and the item hasn't shipped, I contacted them and they said it will back in stock on the 28th (even though the order tracking page says In Stock), so a little bit of a wait.
Would be iInteresting to see some reviews of this. Especially what kind of battery time one could except..
Man, its taking forever! But on the subject of the emulators, I've heard on less technical forums that some SNES games have music issues. I think it plays a bit too fast in some cases, and in some emulators like the MD its all wonky. But then again, these arn't really gamer forums so they wouldn't know the details like we would. I also heard some Neo Geo games run a bit slower than they should. Anyway, I'll wait for some people here to get a unit to hear the final word. People here know what to look for and can identify when something is running fine and when things are slightly off (Regular forums just say everything is ok, when clearly they just forgot how a game should run).
I came back to this thread the other day to see this greet me as the first unread post. No wonder the Chinese girl refused! :bedsex:
Get cracking. I'm particularly intrested if Neo Geo images work, and if key-remapping is a feature in these emulators, or if you just have to "live" with the arbitrary mapping it uses. Also, does the d-pad appear as stiff and clicky as many videos seem to indicate?
Funny you should say that; while waiting for mine to arrive I thought I would dig through the emulator files and look up what they hacked together to work. NES was inconclusive but there was lots of stuff there. But in the SNES.SIM we find great strings like: #!snes9x SNES-SPC700 Sound File Data v0.30 (SPC Format Header) a:\game\sfc.cfg Found multiple ROM file headers (and ignored them). There is light at the end of the tunnel.
I am not so familiar with Sega things, but the MD/GEN emulator seems to support PICO too... anyone recognized the debug strings? Might be worth while as a portable neo-geo machine (depends on exactly what slowdowns it has). Too bad about SNES though.
