Of course not. Games cost so much these days that there's no reason for a developer not to release to everything possible, specially if it's not a first party compay. Valkyria Chronicles and Dragon's Dogma recent success on Steam proves that. As for Phil Spencer, he should be praised for saving the Xbox One from being a DRM junk back to a real videogame console. In the end, it's just the fanboyism kicking in their heads. Losing an exclusive is like losing a weapon, on their meaningless discussions on popular messageboards. You know, the people that compare average metacritic grades (if it's below 80, "it' crap"), that care about sales (like they were shareholders), and other nonsense.
IMO they're doing this to put Windows against PS4 The strategy is: Do you have an bad PC and low money? Buy an XONE Do you have an reasonable PC? You can buy the XONE exclusives, AND ALSO MANY THIRD PARTY PS4 EXCLUSIVES. Having the PS third party exclusvies on PC is good for Microsoft as they have almost all share on the PC market, and thus eliminate the need of an PS4 and XONE.
NO I don't. And those console fanboys shouldn't either. It gets more people *paying* and playing games. It's still a Microsoft exclusive. The target demographics are more than likely different. I won't touch an XBO with a ten foot pole. Not even for exclusive games i'd like to play, like Scalebound, QB or Halo...or Raiden . I would however buy them on PC.
I see two things here: 1. Xbox One is a shitty console from the start, 2. Whatever we like or not, current gen (excepted Wii U) are already trimmed PCs and the gaming will ultimately evolve in mostly a PC thing. I don't like it very much, but that's how it goes. So, why publishers are breaking exclusivities ? Because developing games cost a lot and selling them on a shitty console which doesn't sell enough gives them something I wouldn't call a choice : porting the game to other platforms and try to stay alive or keeping exclusivity and dying. As for myself, I don't care. I usually buy many consoles of the same gen and then buy the games accordingly to the console which has the better version. (Example: played Bayonetta on 360 and Mirror's Edge on PS3.)
If you noticed I have a much more open mind about the XBONE, even if it is terribly underpowered compared to the PS4. It's the games that count. It's not IF I'll buy and XBONE it's a when and When equates to "Not anytime soon" Scalebound hopefully will look way better next time it's shown. There's Quantum Break, Cuphead, KI, Recore and Rare Replay. So that's Six games. Once the list reaches 10 I'll look into getting an XBONE. Oh make that 7 Crimson Dragon.
Iron Galaxy and High Voltage aren't exactly small. I think it's more that WB doesn't care about putting out a good port and sent it to the lowest bidders. I think that was the (since canceled) Phantom Dust reboot. Well you gotta remember your PC is running tons of stuff in the background (Windows/OSX/Linux take up a ton of resources themselves). Consoles (especially older ones) were/are lean, mean, game playing machines. The OS is a lot lighter and on some consoles the front end will shut off when you're playing a game. I like my XB1, I bought it instead of building a computer because I have good faith that 8 years from now they'll still make games for it, but if I build a $500 PC now it won't play new games in 2020 without a ton of downgrades or upgrading it.
I do he's utterly hilarious. I don't know what it is about XBOX fanboys that provide so much entertainment
I don't really care personally, but I can understand the frustration. The Xbox One isn't doing so hot, and the people that are getting mad likely just feel like Microsoft isn't doing enough in the console war, and that making the big Xbox One exclusives available on PC only exacerbates the situation (admittedly, I think MS's best chance of completely crushing Sony was last gen; had they put HD-DVD into the 360 and avoided RROD I doubt the PS3 could have ever rebounded outside of Japan). Crimson Dragon sucks. And this is coming from one of the few people who hates Panzer Dragoon Orta because I can tell Futatsugi had no involvement and, even before he said so in interviews, felt that the plot of Orta went in a completely different direction than what PDSaga was going to.
For as long as I can remember, those types have always been around. It's thanks to the internet that they can be far more vocal than they should be. You shouldn't let them ruin your hobby. It should be solely about what interests you and not about what others say.
If i stopped doing something over people who bitch about everything. I'd have nothing to do. Vinyl Collectors bitch if you get what they think is the wrong turntable, Wrestling fans are cry babies, Anime fans nitpick everything, Gamers complain and complain and complain and complain. I'd be a very very bored human being if people getting upset over trivial things bothered me.
I don't care if a game gets ported to PC, infact, I give credit to the companies that do it. I'm in favor of it. I've got the best of both worlds. I got consoles, and I got a gaming PC. So if a game I like gets released in console, even if initially, I get the game, because I have the console. And if later that game gets released in PC, then even better! Now I can play the game I like in my console and TV, AND in my PC. What I can't agree, however, is those companies that port the game to PC and give no to little effort in porting it, riddling it with bugs.. That, I can't tolerate. Other than that, the more the merrier!
