I really don't think anything said was inaccurate. I've felt the same way ever since I built my PC in August. The switch is quite startling, at least it was for me. While I won't throw previous generation consoles under the bus, this generation has been a resounding disappointment all over the board. Emulating both Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Super Mario Sunshine has been an eye-opening experience. Enthusiast-level PC building may be a bit expensive, but you will absolutely know where your money went as soon as you start experiencing the improvements to gaming.
Can we drop the PC Master Race debate that is a hair's width from starting please? Both PC and consoles have their strengths and weaknesses.
If that debate was to happen here, it really wouldn't be that far-fetched or off-topic. This topic is concerning console games being ported to PC. Saying that those games are objectively better or worse on PC would lend itself to the discussion of whether or not PCs themselves are more capable of better gaming compared to the console that initally hosted the game. Although I agree it is somewhat a can of worms. It can get out-of-hand quickly and it typically consists of people shouting their opinions and not agreeing with anything others say. There aren't any apparent negatives to console games coming to PC. If the platform can deliver an equivalent or better experience, why not? Users win because they have access to more titles and publishers/developers are able to bring in more revenue from more copies sold. The only people in opposition are those who feel betrayed that they were promised something exclusive to then just to be told that they are no longer going to receive a special experience.
Meanwhile, I'll be playing a Mortal Kombat XL and Arkham Knight. Also Double Dash and Super Mario Sunshine are excellent...on my Gamecube. Or even my Wii.
Are we going console exclusive or poor PC-port? The PC did receive Mortal Kombat X, unless we're counting a "Game of the Year" edition as a completely new game. Although I will agree MKX was a poor port, as was Arkham Knight. The "Game of the Year" edition of AK will hopefully be a bit better, although I highly doubt it could be worse haha. If you really wanted to do some cutting you should have said you were going to play Deadly Premonition and Dark Souls as well. Remember that we can go tit-for-tat on this first point, though. ARK: Survival Evolved is a complete mess on the XBONE. Fallout 4 displays relatively bare environments while regularly dropping to around 23-25 FPS, and it started as an XBONE experiment. The Evil Within suffers from a similar framerate dilemma, has a gimped FOV and a serverly invasive black-border hinderance. I could say that I'll be playing X-COM 2 and waiting for Star Citizen to finish up, but I really don't want to open that can. This is where the back and forth comes into play. Keep in mind that I still own and play my midnight-release Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on all three platforms. All I had ever known was the GC and Wii with regards to these two games. Seeing them enhanced the way they were breathed new life into them. I've loved every single console I've purchased and will never push my favorite hobby out of the boat. I'm going to try and focus away from the PC/Console debate. Sometimes console to PC ports can be a bit shifty. I've already mentioned 3. Ryse: Son of Rome was an excellent console-to-PC port. Looked excellent and played very well. D4 isn't too bad, although it has its quirks. We'll see how Quantum Break and Killer Instinct fare. I have a feeling they'll be strongly CPU bound.
Well the debate about PC v Console will never be on level fields. It lies down to "who's the biggest fan boy/girl, and who will use all their energy to debate such a pointless topic"
Same year No Man's Sky is being released. 2020, the year of Kanye. Watch both of those be actually released this year and cause massive head explosions.
Interesting post on reddit about Steam and Xbox https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/473tap/xboxsteampoweredcom_is_continually_being_updated/ And the 25th is a Windows 10 / Xbox announcement in San Francisco (GDC is in 3 weeks) http://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-hold-windows-10-and-xbox-gaming-press-event-feb-25 Edit: Confirmed as a press only event, news will be available March 1st. Xbox games are already streaming to PC now. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/windows-10?xr=shellnav Microsoft is telling the gamers to play them on both platforms.
Best thing about PC gaming, you can convince your parents to upgrade your PC because you "need it for school". You know, that new video card will make Microsoft Word run so much smoother.
The last set of DLC (including the freaking Xenomorph) isn't coming to PC at all, nor are the netplay improvements, or the XL version. I don't know if there's a GOTY version of AK in the works, so I won't comment on that. 20XX Will it be The Last Thing You'll Ever Desire?
By coincidence, that's the same year the Coleco Chameleon 3DO Gecko Acclaim Iguana will be the place to go for all your indie game needs.
I admit I have only read the first message on this thread and haven't went on reading every single message next to it... but, answering to it, to me it goes even simpler: I think having a good enough PC to play most games available as possible without limitations beats any gaming console out there. With game ports and emulators, along with PC-exclusives (+extras, because it's the only place where most aspirants are fully free to release their indie/homebrew games) you can basically play anything you want. Mind you, it even looks like a much better monetary approach than a gaming console. The final user should always expect, at least, a working product, because developers should always remain professional on their work. Anything else isn't fault of the PC gamer. Do I care if a console exclusive goes to PC? I do. What do I think about it? What a fucking good idea.
I have no problems with any game being released on all platforms, however I do have a problem with false advertising. Don't call a game an exclusive, if it's not exclusive.
This is exactly what MS is doing, play it on the platform of your choice.
