    Videogames, that is.

My case: No. One of the few games they know (and always seem to mention whenever the subject comes up) are Alex Kidd (because it was the first game I got, back in the SMS days), Worms, Sonic and -more recently- Peggle.

They've never really bothered with any of the hundreds of games I have/had except for Peggle (because it's one of the few they understand how to play, still had to push them hard to try it) and a couple of minutes with Alex Kidd or Virtua Tennis.

They really don't like them much, but they never even wanted to play, so how could they know whether they would enjoy a game or not? (hmm). It has nothing to with the violence in some of them either.

There must be some users around here with parents into GTAIV and Resident Evil 5, right?

My mum was great at columns on the megadrive.
Now she has a DS and enjoys such titles as: Dr.Layton, Brain training, Puzzle Bubble and Bomberman.

My dad hasn't tried any games post Space Invaders. I think he is slightly proud of this.

My parents hate games and hate me playing them and always have.

Their respect for them has improved slightly in recent years only because I've occasionally made profit from a few rare items here and there.

My dad has been gaming since the amiga and regularly played teken, gran turismo and toca on the ps1 and he still plays GT4 and other racing games as well as Tiger woods pga. He has played a bit of GTA 3 but to be honest he is not into those games much as he tends to stick to his racing games and the tiger woods golf games most of the time and he is quite good at most games once he knows the controls and what your supossed to do..

My mum on the other hand is not too good at gaming although she sometimes tries to play on my DS but thats about it.

My dad is a Flight sim fan, always has been since his ZX81 days although ocasionally he will play a racing game on PC. My mum on the otherhand is useless at games, she tries bless her but control pads are beyond her.

Well my dad actually enjoys most type of modern day games. He is in his mid 40's now and you would think that he might like some of the older stuff, but he hates anything retro. lol
When he gets a chance, sometimes over a quiet weekend he comes over and we play Gears on the 360, or some Socom or Killzone on the PS3.
So it's cool that he tends to enjoy gaming almost as much as I do.

Neither mom nor dad has been eager to play anything, although they tried it occasionally i.e. when I got something really new (like HD games).

I once had a girlfriend who liked to play arcade games like DoDonPachi.

My parents don't, although I think they played a bit of Hungry Horace when we got our first Spectrum in the early 80s! I tried to get my Mum to do Brain Training, she wasn't very good.

I have a friend who is of a similar age to them, and he plays games online - mostly crib. He also likes pinball, and said he'd consider getting a tabletop arcade game like Space Invaders!

My dad is the one who got me into video games at a very young age, My mom didnt want me getting into video games(she wanted me to be the athletic type for some reason). My dad used to just maliciously kick my ass at games like street fighter 2 on the snes, Unfortunatelly now he cant touch me in newer games, He can still kick my ass easily at old school games but pop in street figher 4 or etc and hes just done. he has a small selection of games he likes today, like Dead Rising, Street Fighter 4, Resident evil 5, Fear 2, Silent hill homecoming, Civilization Revolution, thats about it I think.

sucks that he cant be me anymore, it kinda makes playing games together suck, hes not a good sport when it comes to losing games against his son.

My mom taught me how to play video games when I was 3 or 4. Take turns playing through levels on Donkey Kong Jr. (and other VCS games). When she got me a Genesis and saw sonic though, she said it was just too fast, made her dizzy. Havn't gotten her to try anything until now with Wii Sports/Play. My sister and I pitched in to get her a DS and Brain Age to hopefully stave off alzheimers (runs in the family) and she plays it every night.

My father on the other hand, I think the only game I've ever seen him play is this Sears 5-in-1 'video sports console' or something. It's basically one of those pong-with variants plug-n-play tv games.

Both of my parents are really enjoying their Wii that they won at a company picnic. My dad used to play some PC FPS games with me such as Quake 3 and UT 2004. Now though since I'm gone with the good computer he doesn't have that. My mom though she used to play atari games, but after that she didn't play much of anything until the Wii.

No, my parents believe playing video games is a social disable act that is done alone, that playing video games has no benefit whatsoever. Which I find funny because they would go crazy if there was no television to watch.

It takes my Mum all her time to operate her ultra simple PAYG phone. As far as she's concerned, video games are all 'Nintendos' and silly childish toys.

My Step-Dad is a little more open minded, thankfully. I got him to sit down with the Dreamcast and steering wheel and have a proper good crack on F335 Challenge and Daytona USA a while back. He's had Lotus and TVRs in the past, and he was pretty damn good with a Ferrari. More recently the kids were showing him how to play Mario Kart Wii, which was thoroughly entertaining. I can't wait to show him Outrun Online.

I suppose he's more interested in the actual technology more than the games.

My dad is sometimes interested in what I'm playing but he generally doesn't really care... on the other hand, my mom thinks that video games are evil and are likely to turn me into a friendless sociopath.

Just as Stuart.C my dad is a flight sim fan also, as his main hobby is plane modeling, when the weather's too bad or at night he enjoys some flight sims, his all time favorite being Sierra Pro Pilot. He actually taught me how to play these games cause I couldn't understand no shit when I was a kid cause they were too technical. Back in the 90's he was also a big fan of Lucasarts point and click graphic adventures such as the Indiana Jones ones.
He also loves Pilot Wings 64 haha.
