    Yes.

My Dad would play NES games like Sky Shark and Solar Jetman when I was a kid. Then on the SNES he would play Super Mario Kart with me and played Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, and Maximum Carnage.

After that he became infatuated with the Atari Jaguar of all things. He loved Attack of the Mutant Penguins, Iron Soldier, and, of course, Alien vs. Predator (still swears by AvP). To this day he doesn't understand why the Jaguar wasn't a hit.

After THAT I got him into Total Annihilation on the PC (back in '97 or so, I had already been playing it for a couple of years) and thats all he plays to this day. The man has just played single player Total Annihilation + Core Contingency for over a decade now. I tried to get him into Command and Conquer and Starcraft... but no, he only cares about Total Annihilation.

My Mom got into A Boy and His Blob, Mega Bomberman, and Tetris. When I went home for Christmas we played Saturn Bomberman co-op together (the whole game even!).

My mom plays the Sims. Thats about it, though.

As for my dad, he MIGHT like FPSs if he actually started playing one...I don't know.

My mom does not play video games. She runs, bikes, and swims now. She's training for two triathlons.

My dad on the other hand... I remember at a very young age playing Blades of Steel on the NES with my dad all the time. Recent gaming with my dad started when the Xbox came out. He got us one for Christmas with Halo. From there he started helping me and my brother plan 16 player LANs/tournaments for Halo:CE. He had a group of 4 or 5 40-something year olds that would come and lan with me and my friends, too. those were the good old days.

there was a long stretch, where we would literally play Halo every night of the week before we went to bed.

we both also got really into the Tiger Woods series he really likes Age of Empires. and we just had a mini Halo:CE lan a couple of weeks ago.

    :icon_bigg Same here!

I even wrote out a simple guide with diagrams on how to send a text, and I still get blank messages.

But she's a demon at puzzle bobble on the neogeo pocket.

She panics way too easily so watching her try to play any games that require fast reactions is hilarious.

My Dad had an ATARI SPORTS (PONG) console when I was a baby - my first exposure to games. But my parents didn't play anything post-PONG.

I've been getting my mom to play stuff. I'm pretty sure my mom bought a NES when I was a kid for SMB3, but since that nothing. But yeah, shes halfway through Dreamfall and I'm going to stick Neverhood on her computer.

I watched her play some of Silent Hill 4 and Typing of the Dead and it's hilarious because she starts freaking out and laughing. A lot of parents complain that games make them nervous I notice.

My Dad used to play back in the day on our old computers, I remember Castle Wolfenstien (my job was to throw the gernade when the SS showed up.) Nowadays I don't think he does. I know he got a pair of PSPs but that's more likely because it's a "gadget" (he's always been an early adopter.)

My mom, nah. I gave her my old GBA so she could play Tetris, but I don't think she likes anything else.

My parents used to play tetris on GBColor, and the last time I had seen they playing something was House of The Dead 2 on DC, it makes me scared lol.

They genarally don't play games. But I remember them playing SMB and a few other games on the NES when me and my brother had gone to sleep. And then I know I've played mario kart with my father when I was younger.
And I have managed to have them try some Wii and PS3 too. :)

My parent used to really hate them.
My Dad started to play RalliSport Challenge on my original Xbox.. he would never play PC games because 'that's what games consoles are for'
And then he got into PC FPS. Half Life, Halo, Prey, that kind of thing.
Then he bought a PS2 Slim. That 'Halo Killer' (I forget its name) and some other FPS.
Now he has an Xbox 360.
    How things change..

my mom used to play SNES*mario mostly* and genesis*sonic* alot back in the day. she was really into brain age on the ds*i couldn't play my brand new ds from when i got it to 4 months later* but since she went back to school she hasn't had the time for anything really.

she used to watch me play FF XII for hours when i first got it though. even though she hates RPGs*too time consuming and slow she says* too bad my 360 red ringed last night or i'd def be trying to get her into street fighter 4 or KOF XII when it comes out

and my dad? well. he barely knows how to turn off the caps lock. 5 months of e-mails all in caps...... nuff said

My dad, born in the 30's in a rural town in Mexico, never did understand videogames, but he loves watching me play them. He ironically got us all into gaming - since he somehow obtained a promotional atari 2600 back in 79 or 80 and my brother and sister became gamers - which made me a gamer by association. He also got me my first C64 one day, without me asking for it, just because he thought it was pretty cool - and we'd all play Summer Games II on it.

He sits there and marvels at modern games - "that looks SO cool!" or "That is awesome music!" but he never, EVER wants to play them. In 94 he was seriously impressed with StarFox - and later on, when he saw some of the Final Fantasy cinematics he was quite surprised. Having regularly played soccer (reserves, which was what they called the second division in Mexico back in the 50s) - he is very interested in soccer games like Pro EVO, but not in playing them. He says it feels "fake". He behaves like he's watching a game on TV, and yells at the players or the ref, sometimes.

I actually have a funny anecdote about him and games. When I first got a laptop computer in 1999, a friend of his gave him a diskette with a domino game. My father LOVES domino, so I taught him how to use the trackpad on the machine and he got to business. It was 4PM. I came home at 11 more or less, and my father was still playing on the laptop. I was very surprised and told him that it was weird that he had been playing for so long, but he told me that he was REALLY tired but since he didn't know how to turn off the machine, and he thought it would somehow break whe computer if he left it sitting there, so he kept playing for seven hours straight. Still, he is now a force to be reckoned with at domino, I guess.

My mum is an opposite to that. She will never, EVER understand technology - but she loves to try anything new. She got really good at Soul Calibur and used to kick my arse (she was godly with Nightmare/Siegfried), but she didn't know how to put the disc in the system and turn it on. She loves Super Mario but generally doesn't advance much in it. She doesn't get 3D games, and is very squeamish towards violence (she can't stomach the new Ninja Gaiden or Fallout 3) - but she'll try any new console or technology we bring home, and generally likes it. She really, really likes fighting games, and generally chooses big heavy characters.
    She's a 70 year old 5 foot tall lady.

Back in the distant mists of time, I remember getting my mum hooked on the Atari 2600 version of Space Invaders & Tranz Am on the Sinclair Speccy. Considering she's always been a classic technophobe, this was no mean feat!

Video Games seem to hard for any of my older relatives to understand. Though my dad and grandpa both can play the Wii games like Wii Sports and occasionally we`ll all Play Scene it on Xbox 360.
