It's buggy, severely imbalanced and worst of all not fun. You start out with a terrible gun, and the only way to get competitive is to play and "unlock" items. Basically you will be a 3 year old vs space aliens with ray guns. Expect to die a lot, because the top end scope for the game is infrared. It illuminates all players on the map at all ranges. In short, the game has a wallhack built into it as a feature. The latest patch has severely imbalanced the game, and it is now near impossible to shoot down aircraft. I tried to play the game and enjoy myself, but it's a grindfest towards the one good weapon (f2000) that everyone uses. EA has ruined this franchise, and I expect them to ruin the upcoming Mass effect 3 as well. I will no longer purchase ANY ea games, ever.
Welcome to the club. EA has been kissing my arse as far as buying their games for many years. I even hate to buy games that they put their stinking logo on such as Suda 31's last epic (which I bought). It just sends a shiver down my spine of I'm about to plays either a super generic racer, buggy game or just pure pain in the arse shit that requires me to hand over all my personal info just to start the game. yakumo
I was really looking forward to Mass Effect 3 after finally playing 1&2 earlier this year but now I have a feeling that EA will rub their Origin stink all over it, plus god know's what else. I'll be damned if I am gonna sign an Origin eula.
I cannot comment on Battlefield 3, but I agree about Mass Effect 3. After playing the first one, it became my favorite new franchise this gen. But after turning Mass Effect 2 into an action focused Gears of War clone, I had my worries about the direction the franchise was heading. I also hate how EA has numerous old franchises that they choose to ignore. What happened to Road Rash and Wing Commander? I'd love updates of these and various other games, but I guess EA would rather ruin their current franchises first. EDIT: Oh, and screw you EA for making me create an EA account to download crap for ME2 that should've been on the disc to begin with. I bought the game, wasn't that enough? It's not my fault no one likes your shitty service, so quit forcing me to sign up for something I don't want just to get something I should already have.
I've stop buying EA games for a while now, mainly for the fact they never returned my Email I had a normal question that would be easy for them to answer! They're a horrible company as their heads are too far up their golden assholes.
The only EA games i have on this gen are Burnout Paradise, Dead Space and Dead Space 2. I also have Fifa 11 but that was a gift. I planned to get NFS: Hot Pursuit, but will wait for it to be dirty cheap. Same for Shift2. Will always hate EA for starting this lame online pass crap. As for Battlefield, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty,... To me they are the same. Won't say they are bad games, but surely are WAY overhyped, with multiplayer filled of hackers and lame people. Not my thing.
That's what most military multiplayer games are like now. They punish anyone that isn't playing it on day 1 clawing their way to the top to unlock equipment and other bonuses that give you a severe advantage over other players just starting out. Most of these games have a big bunch of things to unlock to give you an edge. That is one thing that I liked about Gears of War since they did not give anyone any rewards for playing that affected gameplay.
Did nobody see this coming? I installed the beta and saw from the get go it was going to be shit. I torrented the game for the story mode and wished I hadn't. It's MW 1+2 rehashed. Congrats EA on wrecking a decent series. Stick to Bad company.
What they did with Battlefield is kinda just the same like the weapon and armor grinding in a normal shooter but on a way bigger scale. If you spawn in Quake 3 and your enemy has more armor and a better weapon the duel won't be fair. And if you start a new soldier in BF3 most duels at the beginning won't be fair either because your oponent might just have the better equipment. Thats actually why I love Halo 1 for PC. You respawn with the strongest and most versatile weapon of all: the pistol. And right from the start you are able to defend your self. But most players don't wanna have a fair fight, they want to dominate.
I hate the idea of the more you play the stronger you'll get. What ever happened to just having more skill? You just get more powerful weapons, against weaker players. Great challenge right? Oh the perks as well, reduce recoil, reduce reload time. seriously fuck off with giving more skilled people less shit to worry about. It's the most unbalanced gaming yet, it's good to see some sane people hate these games.
Did no one listen to me when the Beta was out? Yeah. Guess not. On topic however, if you want to be GOOD and play competitively. You HAVE to play from day 1. And PLAY A LOT/ unlock everything so you can build the most efficient setups for different situations. + Know the game mechanics. If you can't do 90% of these things. Don't bother.
Yes, but you shouldn't have to unlock anything; that's the problem. Skill gained from player experience should be the only deciding factor in an online shooter, in my opinion. (Just to be clear, I don't mean experience as in leveling up, I mean experience as in getting used to the game mechanics and finding strategies as you play.) It is an unfair advantage to give someone an unbalanced overpowered weapon just because they've played longer. Their experience and skill should be what gives them the advantage, not weapons or perks. After all, these aren't role-playing games, so leveling and unlocking equipment shouldn't even exist, once again, in my opinion.
So you are against having different classes? Everyone knows that there are servers with everything unlocked right?
No, I'm against grinding to get stronger in a FPS online deathmatch. There shouldn't be weapons that only players with more experience can use, because it gives an unfair advantage. Not only do they have more skill from playing for so long (fair), but they also get better weapons and abilities than those who just started and are trying to learn the ropes (unfair). The point I am trying to make is that everything (weapons, abilities, etc) should be balanced and available to everyone from the start. Lack of required skill is why online gaming is full of a bunch of whiny children that throw hissy fits unless the game is handicapped in their favor. The sooner game developers make skill a primary requirement, the sooner kids will stop screaming in mics and polluting online shooters. EDIT: I worded that last sentence somewhat poorly. I meant that once game developers make online shooters require skill, kids (everyone, really) will either shut up and get better, or they will rage quit and find something else to do.
That is true, but most games like this are competitive anyhow. So learning to play is part of the fun and many players just don't see that. Not that I like any current FPS but how it was back when I played Counter-Strike.
