Looks who talking! FYI making a low-powered console is relatively cheap, selling it (or any other console) is the expensive part. Dont overrate R&D: if they were so perfect then there wouldnt be so many issues during the console's lifetime....

Touche, but the fact is that marketing costs are over the roof in most developed countries, reason why I said relatively No only this industry, even movie studios are having more trouble finding resources to paid for ad campaigns than for the movie itself.
Well here's the reason why the world is such a fuck'up place and most solutions available arent used: becos there's plenty of ideas, but resources are scarse...
I got bored this evening so inspired by all these "OMG NEW CONSOLE?!" threads knocking about I made this in Illustrator. Wireless Saturn style pad with analogue stick and triggers! I was imagining the thing being just a little bigger than the DC with a top-loading DVD-ROM drive that could also read GD for b/c... Also some DC controller ports so we can also transfer our old Shenmue 2 save files. I thought of something with more power than the Wii but not as powerful as a 360 with supports 720p HDMI/Component output.. With a 40GB 2.5" HDD for downloads and crap too... Yes I know Sega won't make a new console, it sucks but it's the truth.
Nice design, kinda too dreamcast-like but since the rumor was all about a DC2 it makes sense. Again, even when it may sound weird, the fact is that making a Wii-like console (cheaper than the norm and with a focus on gameplay rather than power) but actually more powerful would be cheaper, since the hardware inside the Wii is no longer in production beyond the units nintendo orders for their own use. Better, more powerful off-the-shelf parts like the ones I mentioned would prove a better choice than say, using a Naomi2, which shares a lot with the DC. Anyway, using a GDROM would make the whole thing more expensive and only a handful of users would use since the rest doesnt has any DC games and would prefer to download them, or even buy a DVD version. A royal kick in the balls eh?:-(
I know you are, but what am I? Shadowlayer doesn't work for them. They don't know how easy it is to join the low-end console market and completely destroy the Wii... (or some nonsense to that effect).
I'm sorry, this is going to sound assy, but your posts seem to be missing letters and stuff lately Shadowlayer. A few times I really had no idea what word you meant.
Go read Godofhardcore's posts, then come back. They'll make Shadowlayer's look like literary masterpieces (although GoH has gotten somewhat better lately).
