After Dealing with USPS's screw-ups for the past 2 weeks I finally have received my KURO! For starters I must say right when I picked my KURO up the first thing that came to my mind was how well it was made, it felt really good in my hands and had good weight to the product. Next it was time to plug it in and play, I have to say I did not think that the difference between AVcables and a VGA box would be that noticeable but I was pleasantly surprised. Being that the quality of the VGA is so much more crisp than the standard AV cables , I do not think I could ever go back. The KURO looks amazing on my 42 inch LCD screen, I only have 2 gripes with this product, both are minor. First off when I powered on the KURO the Blue LED light on the back of the KURO lit up, turned red and then short circuited. This is not a major problem just pointing it out because obviously this should not happen. My next grievance is one that probably would make the KURO and upcoming VGA boxes better, when plugging your VGA into the KURO there are no screws to hold your VGA cord in place so it is very easy for the VGA cable to come unplugged from the KURO box. Again this is not the end of the world but it is something to think about. All in all great product and I look forward to seeing what else you come out with.

I am glad that you received it finally. I accept the LED fault, I should have used resistors with them, because I accidentally mixed them with the higher value ones. I apologize for that. It's interesting that in my tests they didn't fail.
I can fix the faulty ones if they are returned or you can do it yourself too.
I know the plug issue, new ones will be with screws like you said. There are reasons why I haven't used them.

It's funny because, while everyone has been having the issue of the LED light on their box going on the fritz, Mine is still up and lighting properly. Unfortunately I'm sorta having another issue which actually does worries me a bit (I could care less for the LED light as it is WAY ti bright for me). It's concerning the DC connector portion. The black outer casing of the connector seems to be cracking open. To be honest the outer casing didn't look like it was properly sealed from the get go as I could actually see inside it via the small gap since the day it arrived. Just yesterday i disconnected the cable from one of my dreamcast and i suddenly heard an unnatural snap. As I began to inspect the connector, I immediately noticed that the connector casing's gap was getting wider. My Kuro as a whole is still functioning properly thank goodness. But needless to say, I'm very worried of this issue especially for the long haul use as I play WAY too much DC...

Yeah, it surprises me a lot, because Scanliners don't have any problems with leds only Kuros, like I said probably they're different or of bad quality.

They are glued both from inside(hot glue) and outside however to make it stronger I am now using a shrink tube to cover it as you can see in the Hanzo photos. I found that after Kuros, they looked strong to me then, so I recommend to use shrink tube on the plug. One more way to be sure is to melt and stick both sides slightly via soldering iron .

Hi beharius, I'm thinking about getting a Hanzo, but before doing it I would like to know... Since there are some non-vga compatible PAL games and Hanzo is able to output 15Khz (RGB), if I select this mode and attach a cable like this, should it work out or is there any limitation?

    Thank you! :)

Yeah, it works with every game. Once it passes the cable check you can switch to 31khz to have more detailed graphics. Or simply play at 15khz, even at this mode the video quality is better than RGB scart.

    Good news!

Finally I completed the PCB design and sent it to the manufacturer. Prototypes will be ready soon. I think I will start to collect money from next week probably...
