Consider this my official order for a Hanzo. I'll take whatever color is available. Many thanks!

My Gen 1 Hanzo arrived today.
I am wondering if it got stuck in customs or something.

Anyway, I'll setup it up and let you know how it looks.

Mine is on a projector screen so I'm not sure if I can get a good picture.
I don't have a video capture device either.

Note:
The build quality is nice. It feels sturdy and will last a long time.
The switches are tight and the DC interface is snug. Just right.

OK, got everything hooked up.
So my setup is a little interesting.

I'm using the Hanzo that is connected to a VGA -> HDMI upscaler.

I have to admit, it looks really good.
The scanlines give such a nice picture on Marvel vs Capcom 2 as well as SF III 3rd Strike.
Everything looks much more detailed. Like you can make out the character definition better.
The faces look a lot better with scanline than without.

My VGA upscaler only has 1/8" stereo jack, so I'm using a 1/8" Stereo to RCA y cable.

When I ordered the Hanzo, I wasn't going to do the HDMI upscaler, but the one I bought was priced right and I already had the cable.

I'm going to do a few more tests, but so far so good.

I know you guys would all like this. It really works well.

Does anybody have a picture on the switches?

Also, the blue led can be turned off it seems. So that is nice.
No glare coming from behind the DC.

I am glad that you received it finally. Thanks for the compliments. We have the same gaming tastes! Those games really look fantastic with the scanlines. It makes me a scanline addict!


For the switches on GEN 1 Hanzo (MK1), thick one is for the 15khz/31khz mode selection. The other 3 switches are for scanlines on/off, odd/even scanlines and width selection(thin for normal resolution, thick for hi res)
When the scanlines are turned off with the switch, if the screen is darker than normal, then you have to turn off the odd/even switch too.
You can turn off the led by changing the thick switch to the 15khz mode when it`s in 31khz mode. Led is for indicating that it`s in 31khz VGA mode.
New ones don`t have this feature, it`s always on.

You can see the different plexi colors in the first post. White, Black and Foggy White (like the Raki/Ouzo/Arak drink)
Only red plexi material is missing, soon I will get it.

 

The original clear one is my favourite.

 

I agree. Some clear colours might be cool too like clear blue or red.

Yeah, nice idea! I tried those colors in a different project, they look like 3D glasses. I will post its photo later. Can be a limited edition Hanzo... of course no price differences.

 

Scanliner and Kuro are also available to order... Price is $45 including worldwide shipping, airmail with tracking and signature upon delivery...

@beharius - Can you post a picture of a completed plexi Hanzo complete with Dreamcast cable please? Specifically the region where the DC cable is attached/soldered to the VGA box. Thanks in advance

 

I have only the prototype board at hand, final pcbs are slightly different, they`re being manufactured currently. In the photos you can see the pin headers, this will be an IDC connector and it has a special modified cable for the DC. That connector will be vertical positioned and a little behind. Final ones are also in green color. If you want to see how my previous cables look like:
