Hey there beharius. I'll take a clear Hanzo if you have that available. If not, black is fine. Thanks!

Would anyone be able to clear up these questions?

    1. I have the game Bangai-O which complains when hooked up via VGA that it does not support it. Will I be able to play it via VGA with the HANZO? The lowest rate my monitors support is 30khz for VGA.
    2. If it is not supported, do I have to unplug the cable and then plug in my s-video cables or is there a bypass option in the HANZO?
    3. Are the sides of the Hanzo wide open? It looks like a circuit board with soldered connections sandwhich'ed between to layers of plexi-glass fixed together by four corner screws, leaving four sides open to potential shock / destruction of the board. If so, I think I could just tape over the holes with electrical tape.

    Thank you in advance.

My Blaze vga box I bought some 12 years ago won't power on anymore for some reason and looking online the value has skyrocketed to like $150 for some reason. I remember choosing the Blaze box back in the day because supposedly it had better picture quality than the official Sega Japan one, but dang that price is insane.

Bangai-O would require a line doubler. It's designed for 15khz.

It has a 15khz/31khz select switch to bypass these checks, but I haven`t played Bangai-o with Hanzo yet, it may be an exception...
You don`t have to unplug Hanzo for this kind of games however if your monitor doesn`t support 15khz you need a scanline doubler.

Yeah, its sides are a little open, its circuit is protected with plexi sheets fixed by standoffs(spacers). I haven`t managed to destroy it yet, it`s indestructible. You can`t touch inside with your fingers since it`s very small and tight. Don`t worry about it, even dust and dirt can`t do anything.

From the manufacturer`s datasheet of the chips I use:

    This device contains protection

    circuitry to guard against damage

due to high static voltages or electric

    fields.

If you want to clean it, unscrew it and remove the plexis then wash it with warm water and use it again. TBH, I recently washed my CPS 2 boards(used glass cleaner), and dried them with a hairdryer, now they are working perfectly and clean as new.
If anything happens to Hanzo, I will replace it or fix it.

Hi, beharius. This Hanzo sounds great. What future features are planned? The Kuro came first; now the Hanzo; what's next?

How will you make the Xbox Vga ? It will take the picture directly from the console ?

A German guy sells one for 100€, another project here.

I will buy one right now, with or without scanliner ! I currently use a converter : HD Box Pro.

It's classified... All I can say is it will be better than anything available... And it won't cost that much... I hope I can be successful on that...

the german guy's box doesn't support 480i input from what i've read. not all games support 480p. most do, but not all.

i am happy with my official hd box. though it would be great if the xbox could output native rgb at 480p resolution instead or YPbPr. though this is not possible on v1.6 motherboards afaik. if it was, vga cable would give better picture than official component box.

If your Xbox is softmodded or chipped, you can set it to NTSC ( with enigma ) and then on the Miscosoft Dashboard you can select different resolution from 480p to 1080i, but only with a YUV cable.

How will it work with the VGA cable ? Will the picture be better than YUV at a higher defintion than 480i ?

So your box will have a switch for 480i and 480p ?

Man, so much stuff to buy from you !

as the gpu outputs in RGB colorspace, not YPbPr and the conversion is lossy (yeah for a small amount) a good shielded vga cable can give better picture than the official box. though the problem is the hacked bios which lets RGB at 480p doesn't work on v1.6 motherboards.

Yeah, it can be without a led.
    No Svideo possible...
There is already a switch to select either RGB(15khz) or VGA(31khz) output through the VGA connector. PMed for order details

All I can say is our old Xbox deserves a Scanliner treatment.
I can`t tell more about my plans, it`s classified. :)
After those Hanzos are ready, I will start to work on that.

That's why i bought a scanliner from you!
Btw CoinOps 5 has a software scanliner now, like FBANext on 360.

007 ! You are right about this modified bios, but it's not that difficult, you only need a modded console.

Do you know any good VGA cable brand that i can find on ebay for a good price ?

    Sounds good !

I hope Xbox gives good results with the Scanliner, I haven't tried it yet.

    I am using the following:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vivanco-C...ion_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item53f65b0b87

I bought it for half of that price. I haven't seen any artifacts or anything wrong with it. Probably there may be better cables out there.
    This one is also good:
    http://www.js-technology.com/store/product.php?id_product=33

You have to test it yourself and see if it's compatible with your monitor. It's not related with price.
