Dreamcast VGA box & Scanline generator

Gamecube D-Terminal/Component cable when modded for VGA can be used for both 15khz and 31khz. However not all monitors support 2 modes. I use Kenzei(scart output) along with this cable to play 15khz through Scart. During boot, the game asks progressive mode or not, if you don't accept progressive, it will be 15khz interlaced. That is simple and I absolutely recommend it if you have a compatible display.

I'd like to buy a Kuro if you're still taking orders. I'd prefer a 3.5mm audio jack if you happen to have any units with one, but RCA audio jacks would also suffice.

Just got my Kenzei but it seems non-functional or not compatible with xrgb-mini. I do know that my vga box works as it works fine on my monitor but when I plug it into the Kenzei with or without a power supply I get nothing but audio and not even an attempt at syncing on the scart lead. This is both with and without a power supply plugged into the Kenzei. I tried 9V and 12V on a 1A PSU with center positive I have pins 1 & 2 jumpered on CSYNC and both sets of audio pins and get audio fine. I am running this into a EU SCART to mini-din that has a built in LM1881 chip for composite sync. I also tried using an EU > JP21 converter into the stock JP21 SCART lead but still, no picture.

I do know that the XRGB-Mini can sync 31khz over SCART as in the past I had built in a circuit to do it using the schematic here http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=av:dreamcast_480i-480p_scart_cable which worked until shoddy wiring came apart. Not sure what to do...

If it helps this is my VGA box http://everythinggamers.com/Dreamcast-Adapter-VGA-Box-Retro-Bit.html but not sure how that would make a huge difference.

Edit x2: I also tried my PPC TiMac and old DOS laptops outputting at 640x480 and neither were able to sync as well through the Kenzei. Trying to think if I have any other VGA devices I can test with.

 

As suggested in this thread, I purchased this cable to connect the Kenzei to the Xrgb Mini Framemeister.
