I haven't seen anything like that before. If it works fine on a VGA monitor, that's a compatibility issue then, I can't do anything. I can send you a new one for testing if you want. If it's still not working, you can return.

Does the Kenzei ship with an AC adapter? If so, what kind?

 

We don't include it because of increasing costs. It needs 5v to operate so we included 2 options, either VGA pin 9 or extra AC adapter (9-12v). Early model Hanzo/Kuro boards don't have their pin 9 activated, only new version Hanzo/Kuro has that feature. If you have an older model(made in 2013) Kuro/Hanzo you will need a 9-12v AC adapter with a central positive, barrel negative, 5.5mm x 2.1mm plug. It's a commonly found one. Following one in the link is suitable, you may use the one you have already too...

Not all VGA cables have that pin9 wired so it's not reliable to use it power source. Using an AC adapter is a better choice. Power source can be selected by a switch on the Kenzei.
Someone deleted the Kenzei thread, because of a photo without name/date so I will repost it today.

 

Hey. I just plugged in my Hanzo to a 2005 Samsung LCD, I have a little problem though. The image appears to not be centred correctly, it outputs a 4:3 frame, but the image itself is pushed over to the right and down a bit. Pretty odd, can anyone help?

EDIT: Ah worked it out. I didn't expect to find image position buried in the menu's!

Hey beharius, I just received the Hanzo today and I must say the build quality is awesome, a truely quality product! My problem is that I want to use it only as a vga scanliner. I bought the scanliner cable, but my video output device is RGBHV (5-BNC jacks) so I need to make an adapter. What I need to know is if the Hanzo is powered by pin 9 of the VGA plug when operating with the scanliner cable? Thanks beharius.

 

Thanks. No, it doesn't use pin9, it's self powered
Just solder 1,2,3(for RGB) and 6,7,8(for ground) and 13 for Hsync and 14 for VSync.

I just received my Hanzo. It's great so far, amazing build quality and picture quality.
Anyone not sure whether to buy should go for it. The picture is so much better with the hanzo.

 

I would like to ask those who bought hanzo and had this vga box, if they notice any difference in image quality at all? I mean, I got that vga box and I'm happy with it. I wonder if I'm missing anything here, really, besides the scanlines, which is a nice option.

GameCube doesn't output VGA. You have to modify the already expensive component cable, which on most monitors is only useful for games that support 480p.
