So, I want a Nintendo DS but I am not sure what one to get. Is the DSi really worth the extra 40 bucks? I know it has a camera and you can use a SD card but I don't think I really care about that. Can you guys help me out.

Why not get the XL for it's massive screens and much better sound?

The DSlite is a terrible system compared to it.

    DsLite~
    Screens are too bright
Horrible Color Saturation and black levels
Volume levels are unbalanced and very low
    Speakers are garbage
L and R buttons are prone to breaking easily
If you are lucky you'll get one where the bottom screen has an ugly yellow tint to it
    Hinges crack easily

The Single reason to get a Lite over a DSi would be to play GBA games. (The resolution of the games don't fit the screen anyway so they look tiny)

This is my opinion. Others will not agree.

Because it's almost 200 dollars! Plus I heard that it's nothing but a bigger version of the DSi from IGN. That's not something I would want to pay 30 more bucks for.

    My opinion on it:

The advantages of the DSi are slightly bigger screen (I personally haven't really noticed the problems Vosse mentioned, but maybe that's because I always run my DS Lite at half brightness), DSiware support and built in web browser. The cameras are currently a little bit 'meh' as very few good games make use of them, and they're average quality.

The DS Lite can commonly be found for half the price, has support for GBA and the Guitar Hero games, and... um, that's it.

I would say if you like any of the added features listed above, go with the DSi (or spend an extra $10 or so and get an XL), else the DS Lite is perfectly acceptable.

I expect that once the XL is properly released in the US, there will be a bit of a price crash in the second-hand market.

Stupid IGN! :banghead: Lol, I still would rather not pay the heavy sum though. Maybe if it gets cheaper.

It's all up to what you see in that 30$.

For me I would pay the extra money no problem... If I had it haha

Yeah but I could buy a actual game with 30 bucks. But I don't know. I'll have to think about it. This is a very important decision lol.

I bought a DS Lite recently, couldn't be happier with my purchase, nothing wrong with it :)

I was considering a DSi, but now I think I'll just wait it out and get a 3DS or whatever it's called..

I don't think the 3DS is going to come out for a few years now.

189.99 Seems to be the standard online retailer price.

Some places offer free shipping , others not.

On Ebay prices reach between 195-250$ not including shipping.

3DS just seems like it's gonna be a gimmick. I'm not interested at this point.

Some people have said things on the Xl however in some games makes them look a little fuzzy which is to be expected.

I wish there were easier ways to Demo units to decide easier .

I agree with Vosse. It sounds like it won't work with some games. Like how would Mario or Pokemon or Sonic work on it. I personally think it will have the same fate as the PSP Go, it will always be around but you won't meet somebody with it.

Here in Australia, some department stores usually have a DSi or DSLite setup for people to play on, but you can pretty much only demo the DSi at this point.

We have them here in the US too but it's no were near enough to make a decision. All we get to do is to play like a 15 minute demo of some newish game.

Yeah, and where I live it's even worse. No one has a DSi Demo unit. They all still only have DSLite Demo units. >.>
