Nintendo is region-locking the DSi web-exclusive apps and games, to my knowledge. It sucks! OH: ... but physical card releases appear to be unaffected.
I'll have to ask some friends but nobody really knows at the moment what is region locked on the DSi. Most assume it's just the DSiware stuff as understandably, the store is locked to the region it was purchased from. It's posible when the unit gets hacked there will be a way to change this. Yet most documents on the system say the unit will only play DSisoftware from it's region and we do know DSi cart games will be comming out in the future (personaly, something I find retarded, DSi enhanced is one thing but DSi only is stupid, just make it a DSiware game. Yet I did hear DSiware apps are locked to 16MB only. LOL).
You can already download DSi enhanced games from the online shop. Really the features are nothing special for western gamers.
FYI - the GB Micro's screen outperforms even the newer SP, and it has the infinitely superior cross key (same d-pad basically as the Wii & DSLite).
Yeah but isn't it a bit smaller? Does that affect it? Also, is that dpad superior? I thought the pad on DS lite was all squishy vs the old DS!
Yeah - the tiny size with its incredible screen performance coupled with the GBA's great 2D graphics looks so unreal it's unbelievable. One of the coolest things made in the last few years, IMO. I've already read a long thread here a while back dedicated to GB Micro love. Well, I was comparing to the GBA SP, which has a useless d-pad. It looks nice until you start using it.
There aren't any DSi enhanced games technicaly speaking. Their just all DSi software period. The idea for DSi enhanced is much like GB/GBC where a game is improved when it runs on the GBC (when coded for it). There is three types DS Software DS Software/DSi Enhanced DSi Software (only)
The Micro really is worth picking up. I've been carrying one around for several years now and even with my weak eyes the little screen is excellent. Not to mention it's so freaking small you hardly notice you have it on you.
Again read my post. It's not a DSi enhanced game. It's a DSi game only period. Again DSi enhanced games will be DS games that have enhanced features when running on a DSi. Just correcting you on your terminology since there will be 3 types of software going forward from now (check previous post for list).
I doubt I will be getting the DSI cause of the cost for what I get, but I'll know for sure when I get a good look at it, which should be soon.
DSi game only -- download and retail. Those could be handled very differently from a production and release standpoint..
I've thought about getting a DSi. From what my friend has told me, he's really enjoying his so far. That may be what I treat myself to for my birthday in august.
My wife picked her up 2 days after launch (she never upgraded to a lite).. and quite enjoys having one... but the loss od the GBA slot didn't matter to her since she didn't play any GBA games... When she took it on line it updated its firmware (whihc could prevent "other" uses" but Nintendo has the 1000 points for free if you buy one.. that pretty much allows you to download 2 DSIware games.. Its definatly not for everyone..
I think the DSi is stupid. I mean cool to have a thinner DS, but taking away the gba slot and screwing over people who bought games that used it is a bad move.
Yes I realize that a few days ago. Did anyone think about games which use the GBA slot for extra features like Guitar Heros, Beat Agents, The fitness game with pedometr etc. ? Does the DSi going to be like PSP ? Boring and with nothing to surprise gamers ?
