C'mon, don't criticize it like that. It has, at least, N64 level of graphics (but with better texture system). I'm excited with the DS and Nintendo stuff this E3. Yes i'm drooling over Gran Turismo 4:Mobile for the PSP.Any doubts about me needing that ? rayer:
The PSP has the hands up as far as graphics go without a doubt but the DS has the upper hand as far as interest goes. The PSP to me just says "hand held PS2" not so exciting in my book. Seen it all before. Just now it's hand held. Where on the other hand the DS has the dual screens, one of which is touch sensitive !! add the Wi-Fi, countless link ups, on-line aps, cheap price tag and GBA compatibility sure adds for something new and interesting. I'd say that the DS looks nice in a retro type of way. The PSP looks even sexier but Sony made a big mistake ! Even the most careful of games is going to get that screen scratched to hell. Why the hell didn't the soft sods make a cover flap for it? Or maybe they did but you'll have to fork out an extra 15 dollars for the official Sony branded one because third part ones for 5 dollars will make the PSP malfunction :smt043 I remember they pulled that shit with the PS2 stands. Do they think we are all brain dead or something? By the way, has anyone thought to why the DS is so cheap and came out of nowhere and why the games look so N64'ish? Well here's my idea. It's just a glorified Nintendo I-Que :smt033 The I-Que plays N64 games and SFC/SNES games and what does the DS play? Well it's own games are very N64 looking and it can also play GBA games which in my book is just a supped up SFC/SNES. That's just my idea. What do you guys think? Yakumo
I explained it to everyone as a Ique supped up and with two screens... I guess the ique was somethign they stumbled upon seeing how small/cheap they could make the DS and saw they could make money.... Paulo
http://finalboss.globo.com/conteudo.asp?conteudo_id=18999 Some screens of the PSP games . Forget the brazilian portuguese text on that site, just go for the screens :smt040
- Tach that Goldeneye screen looks suspiciouslly(sp? ahh who cares) like a screen cap from an emulator. Where's the 64 blur??? I remember that. On release(in Australia) the official vertical stand was about $50. The 3rd party one, which looks exactly the same by the way, was about $15. Guess which one I bought :smt040 Worse then the Vertical stand though was the Horizontal stand. Why the **** would you fork out $50 for something like that. I think it even blocked off the vents at the front of the PS2.
Aaaw I dunno, im in work and the web filter here blocks out all the pages so I just did a Google image search. I didnt pay any attention to the URL's :Hangman: edit I have updated the images
AntiPasta speaks again: Well, nice line of thought but that doesnt hold technically. The GBA might produce roughly the same graphics as the SNES, the system architecture is different (especially on the CPU side, a 16mhz 32-bit ARM7 versus a 3.58mhz 65816 which is kinda like a 16 bit version of the 6502 from the NES), and the gap is evern wider between the DS and N64. For instance, the DS is not ROM cartridge based from what I gather, it uses two ARM CPUs (as opposed to a single MIPS) and the graphics processor is not programmable, as opposed to N64's RCP. However, all this babbling is based on that supposedly leaked DS spec sheet, so it might be wrong after all - but I'm pretty sure DS doesnt have a great deal in common with N64. Sorry to get so nerdish with you, by the way :smt024

oh dammit... what a lousy announcement from Sega, especially in the light (or rather, nuclear explosion) of the DS and PSP announcements :Hangman: This reminds me somehow of that DC-vs-PS2 movie where the VMU says "what a disappointment" :smt022
WAHAHAHAHA!! I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED, FOR I LET MY HOPES DOWN AFTER THE DS ANNOUNCEMENT!! HAHAHA, I AM FINE!! *maniacally stabs at Miyamoto and Naka voodoo dolls* I'm kindof hoping that this wasn't the big announcement, because after all the fan hype and fake press releases, I really wanted the announcement to be hardware-based, as I think so many others did. However, it IS the fault of none but our own for getting so worked-up over things. However, maybe this is a blessing in disguise - with Sega publishing Matrix: Again Part XVII Existential Melodrama Redux Online (working title), it might possibly turn out that the game won't suck. I wish I could say the same for the newly announced Fight Club online game, which save for a divine miracle involving St. Peter descending from heaven and the powers of all history's popes combining, I'm pretty sure is going to be a horrible embarrassment to both the original book and the movie. Man, between the PA leak and the DS design and now this, this week has been super depressing... :smt009 :smt022
