    Code:
    Sonic Team updated http://phantasystaruniverse.com
A flash movie and a few screenshots are available.

Those "screenshots" look decidedly cutscene like, but I am for one most excited about a "proper" new PSO game. PSO3 was just a card battle game bolted onto the old (updated DC) game engine and mechanics.

The best was NDS, absolutly the best!

PSP sucks a lot... why? ok, its a 333 mhz, it has 1.5 gb in the media device, reads mp3 and all that, but... is just a new walkman of the 21 century! is not a game machine! and for all that it will cost MORE than 300 (they say MORE, not just 300, it was only and aprox price) and the games runs with awesome graphics but in 20 fps...

Otherwise, the multiplayer mode in DS rocks, i mean, wi-fi wireless with 16 players?? just imagine mario kart!

And maybe the worst thing: the PSP batteries sucks! only 2 hours?? the DS got 10 hours of unstop play and includes rechargable batteries...

I don't like the physical look of the DS myself (I hope the final version will look a bit more streamline and less like a Game.com ^_^) but I definatley prefer what I've seen of it when put against the PSP. But hey, I've always been a Nintendo kindof guy :)

Hmm, funny, the PSP I saw attending E3 was running games at decidely more than 20fps.

Also, I dont know where you get a 2 hour battery life from. Sony said *movies* would lower the battery life to 2.5 hours. Games last about 8 - 10 hours. I'm not saying I didn't like the DS, but dont talk out your ass either ;-)

oh, and the PSP media holds 1.8GB, not 1.5 and has the same wireless abilities the DS does (Yea, i'm nit picking ;p)

Please, no Fanboy-ism here. :axe: :Hangman:

Both the DS and PSP, in my view, are for different "markets".

The DS is more like an evolution of the GBA, while the PSP "wants" to be a pocket multimedia device, since it plays music, videos, and games.

What is the best one? Well, wait till they get released to judge. And remember, being the best does not mean it will be succesful. There are tons of examples.

I liked both in their own way. The DS with it's two screens can be amazing, if that extra screen is well used. Plus it has a touch screen. The PSP, has that "big" widescreen.

    1. How you can say the PS2 is not a games machine with the list of games coming for it is beyond me.
    2. We have no idea what the price will be. Nothing has been confirmed.
    3. The PSP is still a long ways off. Games usaully run like crap when they have 6-8 months of development left.
    4. Stop being a fanboy.

Metal Gear Acid was definitively showing up a 20 fps.
Also, let me remind you that the PSP doesn't yet exist! All video you saw are running though an emulator. Everything you saw on PSP screen were just videos captured from PC emulator and speedup.
The PSP case were fake (you couldn't even turn it off).
As of today, developper do not even know how they will have to rework their game/code for an actual PSP.

Nice to see Sony BSing us all again with "Fake" PSP images. Just makes you think if the game will indeed look like the videos shown as Omar said.

PS: Omar, you and your MEKA Emulator are mentioned in this months Game Lab :smt023 Looks like the Japanese are taking interest in your work. Keep it up mate !!

PPS: I have your BEEP book here.

Indeed Yakumo. Only one 2d/3d RPG and Metal Gear Acid were running on the PSP ( the dev board probably, as the system is not finished ). But with the except of Gran Turismo 4, that is just a video replay of the PS2 game, all other videos show were games in development to the PSP. Probably just videos showing what it can do,as none of those games are confirmed to be released, although there's no doubt games like Ridge Racer, Ape Escape, and Wipeout will be avaiable.

And yes, i hate the sony fanboys saying the PSP owns the DS. I liked the PSP, but the DS surprised me way more. Remember the live conference? :prayer:

MEKA emulator is amazing. I used it a lot to remember the good times when i had a Master System. Plus smspower.org is a fantastic place for info on SMS/GG. :smt023

I think it will eventually look this way, but it is definitively not ready, while the DS is ready.
The only game that was running live (AFAIK) at the show was Metal Gear Acid, and it wasn't frankly impressing, and slow.

    Oh! Thanks for everything.
Could you buy me that Game Lab(o) issue? I'll pay for the expense. Talk to you later by e-mail.

Sorry for the late reply -- Yeah, sorry for the false advertisement. In my defense, I didnt' see the video, so wasn't 100% sure. :)

But, speaking off the video, it's now available for viewing at the aforementioned site. Looks nice, but looks like only 4 playable characters?

As for it coming to the PS2 -- I don't generally count the Magic Box as a viable source. Most of the other sites read Famitsu as well. If they post, I'll believe it. Otherwise, I'd like to see it in Famitsu myself. Might try to pick the latest one up today.

    You may be right.
Gamespot has it listed for all 3 systems. It would be sweet if Sega could manage it so Xbox, PS2 and GC could all play each together. Probably very hard to do but here's hoping. If there's PK'ing(Which I doubt) the fanboy wars would reach a whole new level :smt043

    Re: -

    I usually am. :) Hehe J/K

Well, there's no PK'ing (that I know of) in PSO 1 & 2 for the GC, but there's a world of other problems, and every last one of them Sega's fault.

1: Original Duping bug, found within a week of the initial release
2: Releasing the "fixed" Japanese version, about a month after a similar bug was found in the US version... despite phone calls from myself, and a few posts on the official PSO JPN BBS -- which were deleted by Sega admins. (The original JPN version couldn't connect to the US version, as the JPN one was "broken")
3: Time releasing just about everything 2-3 months too late. Had the sped up the process, I think a lot more people would be playing.
4: Putting fixes in that corrupted memory cards (and then not fixing them)
5: Doing dick about any of the cheating and what not.

I didn't even touch PSO III. I don't like card games enough to go through the pain of all that crap again. I have 7 PSO characters, the lowest being level 110 or something, and the highest 165 (most around 150). I'd say I've been a good fan.

I'll give PSU a fair shot though.

    $300 for a PSP?

I'm sorry, I don't care how cool the games are, I can't afford that, nor will I bother saving up for it. I'll have to do what I always do, which is (sigh) wait until the stupid price drops, which probably won't be for a YEAR after it's release.

Damn I hate being poor. [/quote]
