The bird demo looked bad. Jaggies all over the place. Pop-up and low texture detail. I'm beginning to think this machine is going to be lower spec than current generation. I thought it was a 3DS demo at first. Edit: Actually, I take it back somewhat. It appears the video feed might have been the cause. It looks pretty nice when I checked a few other videos of it. Something you could do on the XB360 still, but the best it could do. And it is a year off.
2 things annoyed me about Nintendo's conference: 1. Miyamoto has been talking about remaking Zelda: A Link to the Past for awhile now. But it was not announced for the Zelda 25th anniversary. This is a damn shame, as ALTTP is without a doubt the best Zelda game in existence. It's cool that Link's Awakening is on the 3DS VC and it's certainly cool that Four Swords is going to be on DSiWare, but ALTTP would have been especially special. 2. Luigi's Mansion 2 being the big reveal for 3DS. Really? Does Nintendo not realize that next to nobody gave a fuck about Luigi's Mansion the first go round? That's almost the equivalent of announcing Mario Sunshine 2 and expecting people to care. Just... poor show Nintendo! 2D Mario would have been so much better. That said... Kid Icarus looks amazing. Hope the control issues are sorted out now. Mario Kart 3D looks amazing. I'm so happy coins are back and I hope they play the role they had in Super Mario Kart, but unfortunately I saw blue sparks (I hate that system) so things aren't back to perfection yet. Super Mario 3D... amazing. Easily the best thing shown at E3. Marrying Mario 64 and SMB3 is probably the best idea anyone has ever had. This will undoubtedly be my GOTY. Star Fox also looked amazing, but it isn't online is it? The camera business made me think it might be now? I don't know. It looks great though. WiiU looks neat, but I can't say I care right now as not enough was shown or announced. It's certainly a great idea... but we'll see. Oh, and Smash Bros. being on 3DS is killer.
I wonder what the range is on te New Remote, since it's streaming data from the console. You actually might not be able to play while on the crapper.
I agree with jp. on the Mario Kart thing, go back to the roots with the coins = speed. For Mario 3D - it looks OK. The game looks more platform orientated to me, less like Mario 64 and more like pseudo-3D (2D with depth), which is really odd considering the name and the 3D screen of the device. It should be more free-roaming I feel.
What? Are you serious? In Super Mario Kart coins gave you a speed boost or something? I'm not kidding around, I've never heard of this. I've only ever known that if you have none then just colliding with another driver would make you spin out. I played alot of SMK too. Not so much the sequels though.
Yeah, in Super Mario Kart coins give you a little boost in speed. I can not remember if they do in Mario Kart 64 or Advanced and I have not played Double Dash but I think I remember them giving you a little boost in Mario Kart Wii.
^^ Yes. This. As much as I adore Galaxy 1 & 2, they're too much twitch and not enough exploration. Mario is not Sonic. I'm hoping the finished Mario 3DS is more like Super Mario 64.
No coins in the 64 version but in my opinion that was the last good game series. Many hours spent on multiplayer!
We have a weird thing, where Nintendo innovate on the hardware now, but software is stagnant and basically just a rehash of last generation - or worse - re-releases of old games. Of course there are exceptions like Wii-Sports, but generally speaking they need to get some new ideas. Kid Icarus looks great though! Motzilla - The last Mario Kart to use speed boost with coins was SMK unfortunately. Also the weapons are not as good as the original IMO. Blue shell and multiple shells be damned.
The more coins you have the faster you go. I don't recall where it maxes out though. I do know I managed to out run a red shell for a full lap of Mario Circuit once though with Koopa Troopa. Pissed my Dad off. I hated the series when it went to that retarded waggling/sparks system. Just awful. So anyone else here download the E3 game trailers on their 3DS? If not, do so now. The games look amazing in 3D.
As long as it plays Ocarina of time in some form fans will pay the dollar for it since we all know Nintendo loves rehashing classics
Yep. You'll see an icon with Kid Icarus on it, thats where all the trailers from E3 are. From Super Mario 3D to Metal Gear Solid 3.
This topic seems primarily focused on the Wiis lack luster announcement in my oppinion, imo Sony stole the show PS Vita really has impressed me especially at that price, ill probably pick up WiiU aswell but so far im dissapointed and confused at the same time.
You know that Wii U footage was all from PS3, 360, and PC versions of the games. Not indicative at all of what Nintendo's machine can or can not do. Reggie said so in an interview with GameTrailers.
