I disagree. If you're a fan of Cave and 5pb, then it's the greatest... but if you don't like that style of shooter, then probably the PSP is the way to go for modern. Lots of Konami and Taito there. Having said that I love Raiden IV and Raiden Fighter Aces for the 360.
Only one Wii U controller allowed at a time: http://www.gamepro.com/article/news/220292/e3-2011-only-one-touchscreen-controller-per-wii-u/ WTF are they doing?
I'd disqualify the PSP just because you can use an arcade stick or whatever controller that's better suited for shooters with the 360, while with the PSP you're stuck with the craptacular D-pad.
360 has Taito (Raystorm) and Konami (Scramble, Otomedius series) as well. Not to mention the two Treasure shooters and some G.Rev games (though not their best) and, as you already mentioned, the Raiden Fighters stuff. Oh, and Omega 5. The only thing the 360 is missing for me is Tecno Soft and Raizing. Hmm... and it doesn't have Batsugun. Maybe the Saturn is still the greatest...
Hehe, sounds like they are doing stupid crap like they did with Wii Fit (wii Fit force binds it self to a specific input port which is why you could only have 1, there was talk of fixing it but not sure if that ever happen).
The one controller thing isn't that big of an issue, but the fact that you can't buy them separately is. What if you break the controller but not the system? You have to buy a whole new set?
that means the controller is likely the most significant cost of the entire console package. Hence, they sell you ANOTHER WiiU when you need a new controller. THIS GETS BETTER AND GODDAMNED BETTER ALL THE TIME.
Let's be reasonable. Does it make sense that you would have to rebuy the system for a new controller? No. Just call Nintendo and get a replacement. Honestly. I don't think the controller screen is going to be a staple for every game. I see a screenless version that can be used a a 2nd controller as a possibility. The wii does not have 2 sticks or the same buttons as the wiiu, so a different controller is going to be necessary. Also, not a single game has been announced for the system. Why don't we all wait to see how developers solve this unique problem before getting all pissy?
JEEEEESUZ... Let's see, its friday at 7 pm and my kid just broke the controller while having friends over. What works better. A) A trip to any retailer anywhere to get a new one? or B) store.nintendo.com and get it sometime on Tuesday. Monday if I choose like, $25 for expidited shipping. STOP DEFENDING THAT. There is a reason why they cannot (not WILL NOT) sell these things at retail. I suspect it would show the true price of the actual console vs the controller. Think of it. I may be onto something here.
Just a point about the shooters. I'm also a big Saturn fan as you all know but it's very close between the Saturn and the 360 IMO. The PSP doesn't come in to it. You can't get the true arcade feel on a hand held no matter what it is. Probably I would go with the Saturn as the best system for shooters overall but if Cave is your thing then the 360 is a must hands down with the added bonus of other shooters.
Yeah, after sleeping on it there really is no denying Radiant Silvergun, Batsugun, the Thunder Force series, Blast Wind, Hyper Duel, Soukyuugurentai, and Battle Garegga all on one system, no matter how many Cave games the other consoles have. Though Akai Katana Shin is damn good...
