"12cm high density proprietary optical discs", so no confirmation if the drive is (HD)DVD, Blu ray or something else entirely. Also, that's a very nice looking (but probably quite pointless) official PS3 keyboard:
Kirby Wii looks like a lot of fun. Honestly, the game lineup for the existing hardware all looks pretty good. EDIT: Where the hell is Pikmin 3? Did I miss, or did they really now show/mention anything? This was like my #1 item I was looking forward to Luigi's Mansion 2 helps though.
i'd hit that, although I m not a fan of the mouse-tit in the middle. I thought IBM/Lenovo had the rights for that thing?
That. It's been seven years over here, I believe, since the last new F-Zero, since we didn't get Climax. Don't tell me F-Zero's gonna be the next Kid Icarus. Besides that... long post ahead and no tl;dr: I only joined Sony's conference 20 or so minutes in and, while I'm not a Sony fan at all, I have to say the Vita looks pretty good. Well, the hardware anyway, as personally none of the games they've shown off so far are appealing to me outside of maybe ModNation Racers('s track editor). It's got an editing interface I'd like Nintendo to have in a new F-Zero for 3DS or so... hint, hint, but Nintendo's probably not reading this. As for Nintendo's conference, I was hyped for it, considering they'd be showing off their new console, new offerings for the 3DS, etc. Now, Wii U does look very interesting. It appears to be powerful enough to shut up those complaining about the Wii's graphics - at least until Microsoft and Sony bring out their new home systems - and it's got, yet again, a different kind of controller than what we're used to. I can't yet say if that's going into a good direction, but being able to continue playing your game off the TV screen is pretty nice, and I can imagine some other good uses for it outside of that. I am somewhat disappointed about the first-party lineups for Wii U and 3DS, tho. For Wii U, there's basically only been tech demos no matter if they hint at possible new games or not (I'm not counting on that; remember the GCN Zelda tech demo?), and for 3DS... well, there's a good lineup of upcoming titles I suppose - Super Mario, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2, Starfox, Kid Icarus, etc. - but most of those were already announced before, many at the last E3 even. There were, what, two new announcements for 3DS? Luigi's Mansion 2 and... or maybe just one? Again, where's F-Zero, or where's Metroid, or a new Zelda? Oh well, maybe there's gonna be some surprise announcements over the course of E3 still... like that Pikmin 3 that Miyamoto had mentioned once, and never materialized.
I think Nintendo are smoking crack. That controller is ridiculous. The console better be really cheap because I can't see how they could sell that controller for less than $100. And if the game on TV is High Def, does that mean the screen is? Because going from high res to a 6" SD screen is not going to be a good transition. The games look sub-XB360. Presumably that is because they are running on really early hardware.
To mii it seems like Nintendo is branding the Wii name. Not so much is the new system a Nintendo Wii U, but rather a Wii U, in as much as Nindendo is the manufacturer, Wii is the brand, an U is the model. I'm very surprised how similar it looks to their current hardware. Does anyone remember when N was hyping the Wii and saying that games and controllers had become too complicated, and that the key was to be simple?
don't be daft. The PSP has been doing this for a good while now over Remote Play, even on 1080p games like Lair. given that this isn't over IP and the timings are good from what is reported, there's no issue there even if the screen isn't of high DPI resolution - the machine actually feeds a compressed image over to the controller's frame buffer. It's like a very quick OnLive type of thing, applied locally.
Just my opinion but I think there's a crash coming. I just can't see anyone seriously giving a fuck about N's new machine. The novelty which sold the Wii to 10 million old people has been and gone. At the very best it'll be the next N64, only the hardcore ninty fans craving more Zelda and star fox will buy into it.
What did everyone think of Nintendo's tech demos....rather lack of? I was a bit suprised Nintendo didnt really have anything to show what the system might be capable of other than the bird demo, while pretty, still left a lot unanswered. Granted there was the brief Zelda demo but not much to go on. I guess what I am wondering why there wasn't more from Nintendo. I feel like they could have put together a few more basic demos just get everyone's dander up. Do you think they are saving for TGS?
they're not using final hardware probably and/or the drivers need work. They should have stuck to using UE3 or Cry2 to show off the hardware, that 3D bird crap wasn't that convincing, primarily due to bad animation. That said, I think the machine will enjoy a huge success. There's the easy portability from previous consoles/PCs, so the know-how and the dev tools are pretty mature from the get-go. Furthermore, nintendo's own software will captivate the usual nintendo crowd, myself included, and there's the ease of playing on the crapper for example etc. All these factors are powerful when combined, making it pretty much a one-stop shop for any classic and future gamer, hardcore or now. I'll be buy this bad boy on launch, I love the concept and I'm confident in the power of the machine for the time being.
In a wide-ranging interview with Kotaku regarding the new Wii U console, one of Nintendo's chief game designers, Katsuya Eguchi, confirmed that the system's proprietary disc format will hold 25 Gigabytes of data.
Well, no matter the specs. I am gonna buy this day one like every other Nintendo system. I was just feeling a little butt-hurt because they didn't even tease a new Metroid or F-Zero. There is also this article over at GameInformer with David Adams who says "the hardware is more powerful and it will have some extra features that I think will actually be useful to people playing the game." He is speaking in regards to the Wii U being more powerful than the 360/PS3. Here is a link: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...3-be-the-best-platform-for-darksiders-ii.aspx Don't get me wrong. Graphics aren't everything but it is nice to hear an indirect confirmation that it won't be two Wiis duct-taped together. ;-) BTW, what is the deal with NO Xenoblade or The Last Story at E3? Srsly?
