Nintendo has turned into disney. They have a forever brand, set characters and a generational audience.

The real test is when miyamoto and the other die, will the company survive?

I think everyone at BioWare went retarded when EA bought them. I really do.

Somehow I doubt it. But then again, Disney is still trucking along, so maybe something can happen. But once all the big fish are gone (Miyamoto, Iwata, Sakurai, Aonuma, etc.) I just can't see them staying relevant for too long.

But who knows. Maybe Miyamoto has a successor hidden away somewhere at Nintendo.

The Wii U looks pretty bad, but as long as they make a Mario game and a Zelda game (even though Skyward Sword didn't sell anywhere near as well as the Wii Marios) it'll float. Hell, even the Gamecube somehow managed to stay alive despite a mass exodus of third parties.

Sorry I couldn't take that seriously. Obviously we did not see the same thing when we watched that presentation.

ALSO: those key people aren't responsible for EVERYTHING. If you made games literally with just those people, it would never work and or happen. There will always be someone with a new idea. The kicker is whether someone gives them the chance/time of day to give it a shot.

The thing about Nintendo is that they know how to stay true to what makes each brand fun and unique. So what they don't totally reinvent themselves with every iteration. Last I checked, most times when a game does that , all people do is bitch and whine about what's changed. When they don't, they cry about how stale it is.

    Perpetual hypocricy.

Meanwhile, those of us who know how to enjoy stuff get to have fun , for whatever reason it may be.

The WiiU actually looks unique, and has a lot to bring to the table considering if developers will actually be assed to take a risk and try to take advantage of it for fun and unique experiences, less the shovelware take over. And I am very much looking forward to it.

Also: the stuff about perpetual hypocricy applies to this too. People complain, Nintendo makes a new way of playing : Wii U Game Pad>Asynchronous Gameplay : People still bitch.

Developers taking a risk and developing games for a unique controller? Hahahahahahahahaha. You've seen what happened to the Wii.

Wii U's launch is going to be really interesting to watch. Here is a console that maybe a good 40% of the "hardcore" gamers will buy day 1 (I'm guessing at that number just from general reaction to it)

The vita had huge fan buzz going in, perfect press conferences etc but its had very low sales. The vita was really about pure gaming with some social connectivity on the side. If the Wii U succeeds as in sell out orders etc, then we can expect more E3s like this where social networking is more important than actually playing video games. I really don't think theres been a console with such little fan enthusiasm as the Wii U released in a very long time. Even Xbox 1 had Halo as a launch title.

And not to show total hate on the nintendo conference, Paper Mario for 3DS is day one for me.

Not many were. From the beginning it was only the "hardcore" (see also: Dickhead) gamers that shat on the Wii U, everybody else just had reservations (which is natural when a controller bigger than the duke shows up), and now with what is shaping up to be a good first party line up and a yet to be built upon 3rd party line up (although what was shown was nice, even if Arkham City is just a port and ZombiU seems to be set to throw the nintendo = casual shit right out the window) I can safely look towards Nintendo selling the most consoles and making the most money again.

At the very least, I think New Super Mario Bros. U and Pikmin 3 look pretty cool.

Something occurred to me while I was watching the Nintendo presentation: the Wii U has 3 control methods. You can use the gamepad (the one with the screen), a Wiimote, or the classic controller. That seems like it could get a bit confusing as far as knowing which controllers are compatible with which games and things like that.

You're being stupid. WiiU will never be the turd Virtual Boy was. The WiiU has a fine chance to do well in the market. You have to realize that there is a large source of profit to be had from idiots that buy shitty casual games. And infact shitty casual games are probably more profitable than AAA "hardcore" titles.

Ofcourse, I can't say I give two shits about the WiiU. I'm not one for games with touchscreen controls, or motion controls. If your game has either you can stick it up your ass. It's ok for a short casual game that is cheap. But for a 60$ game I don't think so. No goofing around thanks.

Can't believe they didn't mention the price... No launch Metroid, Zelda games. However Pikmin 3 looks really good...

However New Super Mario Bros. U looks good, it's a side scroller and why make that launch a title? :/

    Summed up pretty nicely.

I laughed so much when they mentioned HTC.

Exactly. And just imagine the tons of "special buildings' DLC they'll release...
