Calpis, your reasons make alot of sense, that's why i didnt buy the disks myself when i had the chance, but I do believe that there is some mother 3 related material on the disks ; the autopsy will show however, so everyone pray to subbie.
I would be more suprised if they contained Mario Artist then if they are in fanct m3 disks. I can see why someone close to the M3 project would want to save whatever they could, but I can't believe too many NOJ employees would risk their jobs over something as trivial as Mario artist. Mother on the other hand is held in high regard by many a japanese gamer(and even outside of that group) so the risks might have been worth it.
I wouldn't call taking a few blue disks risky since everyone brings their work home. Stuff like this isn't stolen from a vault, it was probably casually taken as a souvenier by an employee. I find it hardest to believe that anyone, even a clueless employee, would part with Mother 3 so easily. It's also not like blue disks are hard to come up with, IIRC 3 were included with every developers 64DD.
I think there were 4 blue disks with every Dev kit. Better games than Mother 3 have surfaced before. Clueless employees parted with them why not Mother 3? Look at Jollerrancher's finds. Earthbound NES, Zelda SNES proto, NWC NES, Campus Challenge NES, Ken Griffey Jr Comp cart SNES, a dozen random protos and 4 or 5 Starfox Comp Carts. All for next to nothing.
i dont think that this disks contain Mother3. Anyway, calpis, you wrote that lots of people take work at home. That is not possible at Nintendo. They have a NDA. i this NDA you can read that it is forbidden to take anything home, especialy unreleased game related things.
And that's total bull. Well not the NDA part. But the no one ever takes work-in-progress stuff off the Nintendo campus. -hl718
No progress on this still then? Haven't checked this thread for a long while, was just wondering what's going down?
Hey guys, I haven't disappeared. I still need to find a Partner 64 cart. The only one I've noticed for sale was in a big lot on ebay. And for some reason I thought it would go higher than it did ($400ish). I can only afford a couple hundred right now. If anyone has access to one please let me know. I'd like to find out what's on these disks as much as anyone else.
This guy from hong kong has a Partner 64 set in his collection "(which may Not be for sale)", but you could contact him to see if he'd sell. http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=lingjr But, would a 64DD development system work? He has one in his "buy it now" auctions going right now. If you look at the picture it's got those same blue discs that you found. Of course its $1599 US. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...tToStoreCat&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget But, this thing would load those discs, wouldn't it?
http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-Dev-Ninten...2QQihZ007QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem now just buy that damn thing and put an end to this mystery.
