I'm officially never selling anything on ebay to anyone outside the USA. I got invoiced by customs for $140.00 for that FZ35S I sent to germany, making my net profit pretty much nothing if the dude doesn't pay it on his end

Based on what, exactly? Here's the prices for a 1-pound box:
    http://ircalc.usps.gov/MailServices.aspx?country=10150&m=6&p=1&o=0.0
(I don't know what he's selling that you noticed, just making a general post)

If whatever is being sold will fit in the tiny flat-rate box, then it might be able to shipped with no tracking or insurance for $13.45 (adding tracking makes it $24), otherwise, the cheapest option is $28. And, if it's through eBay, you still have to add tracking, and maybe additional insurance.

The First-class shipping almost doubles if you want to add any kind of tracking too, so that's about the same. But anyone that's worried about being scammed is going to use Priority shipping at least...

There is no cheap option for sending packages overseas from the U.S. anymore. Priority air-mail is the only way they ship stuff now.
