The frame and case have seen better days.

The frame's damage is such that the DVD tray jams and can't slide in and out as it should.

Cracked and broken pieces of plastic on it are a common site as well.

from behind, the damage of the frame is apparent as the internals dont allign with the case, and leaving gaps etc.

Overally, it's far from 'excellent cosmetic condition' that they claim in the auction.

 

Getting worried got my bro to check them out.

 

well don't be too worried. The guy on the phone said that when he picked up the items they were all fine and he blamed ANC for the condition of the TOOL - to me though, the packaging looked sufficiently good and the box didn't have any tears, beating-marks of dents either. The tool however looked like it was struck from the side or dropped on the ground from a considerable height.

I wouldnt be surprised if he was talking BS. What did ur brother tell you?

I called them this morning to let them know I d be willing to keep the TOOL for about 30 pounds, and the guy said "i m engineer, I ll fix it" - (with a hammer and some super-glue? )

Just be alert, I don't want to imagine him refurbishing the item and selling it to someone 'as is' - they d be in for a major downer.

Good to hear your PS2 Tool has arrived in mint condition. Remember that elusive VGA port hidden underneath the metal plate, which had Barc0de (and me I admit the first time I used it) momentarily panic striken.

What err? I assume it WAS a joke!! I hope so, really as it would be a damned fine Linux box (as discussed elsewhere). Should we move this to the thread we created for PS2 Tool dev items with UJ et al? Just to clear the eBay thread of our discussions? (Sorry folks, this was never meant to happen).

OT - watch out for a damaged PS2 Tool being offered on eBay from the seller previously mentioned. Be aware of the condition as described by Barcode. It has a large white sticker on the rear which is not normally present on PS2 Tool units so should be easy to spot.
