It's probably like the Conker Xbox, a competition system. If it was more of a retail limited then there would be more of them.

Also a similar story on the Atari Xbox, there's more than one of them and none of them were really official either. Just painted over without any sanding or anything.. very sloppy. I guess the Playboy Xbox comes to mind too.

These competition systems are never actually official afaik excluding the Hulk system. Most of the competition systems come in the retail carry travel bag.
So unless someone personally won the system I guess we won't really know the history, since the truth gets twisted so much. Just how the Atari system was.

What do you have on it so far?

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you regarding the competition systems (painted). I don't consider the competition systems official either, aside from the Hulk. I don't even really have a valid reason why I consider the Hulk "official" and the 50 cent, Conker, Atari, Playboy and the others unofficial. I don't think any of them are official Microsoft releases. That said there are several that I would love to own. As for the 50cent currently up for auction, I don't have anything on it right now. I was hoping to learn more by communicating with the seller and doing more research before deciding on a bid. After reading your message I realize that you are probably 100% correct. It's another one of the competition systems that we just haven't heard about yet, assuming its real. I'm not even a 50cent fan, but it would still look nice in my collection. Too bad they didn't do Misfits system....

The 50cent xbox is currently at $510usd plus shipping. The seller says his wife won the console. I'm trying to get some more details from the seller (and his wife).

Holyshit, still a little cheaper than the Conker Xbox so far.

Most people that care about it probably already know, but there's a sealed copy of Stadium Events on offer. Bids are just shy of $100000 (yup, that's one hundred grand) right now.

Although it seems the picture has been lost to time now. I remember seeing a picture with 4 of those 50cent consoles. It was on kaori30.com which no longer exist. That collector is a member here. I don't think he owned the console he just had the picture.

It will be interesting to see how that auction ends and whether or not the #1 Xbox person will swoop in at the end like always.

Seems it was a TV competition one as well, just like the one that was given away here. I would of heard of the competition here since I live in the damn country and my sister would always be watching music shows.

Bulletproof was promoted so hard here too, had about 10 flyers in one bag for the stupid game.

Yeah pretty sure PAL US NTSC are fine, don't have a JAP console to test it with though

Do you happen to know if the Panasonic Q has the right port for it?

I think it does, but it will only work for games, when watching DVDs it only outputs to composite and S-Video

Really? That's interesting. No matter I have a blueray player :) Ya I added it to my watch list and will bid closer to time. I also just got a PM on reddit though of someone with a CIB one and I might be able to trade for it which would be cool. We'll just have to see.

Were you the original owner of it or did you buy it somewhere?

I have a Panasonic Q and it works great with the official Gamecube component cable. I'm not very knowlegable about the cable, but I know only some of the Gamecube games are compatible with it. In my experience the NTSC gamecube games that do work with the component cable have an icon in the upper left hand corner of the back side of the cover art that says "progressive scan compatible". I've never tried it with movies.

This is news to me. Mind providing a picture? Linking to a known compatibility list? I thought it worked for all games assuming you had the cable + correct GC version.

EDIT: NM I found what you mean. Luckily for me, Super Mario Sunshine IS listed :)

Not all games support progressive scan that's true, 99% of PAL don't but you are still getting much better picture with 480i/576i when using component. Only owner yeah, the reason I don't have a box is all of them sold here through Nintendo came in an unsealed plastic bag when they were new

Just confirmed. I bought one for $80 shipped :) I was really hoping he would take the trade, and he said he was tempted, but he needs the money. Oh well.

Thanks for the information on the 50 cent xbox console. The seller has no documentation on the console (I asked a few different ways). He has been friendly enough, but they don't have any proof that it's the real deal. That said, how many systems like this come up for sale that do have any kind of proof? I can't think of many. Like most of these purchases, it's a risk.

By the way, who is the #1 Xbox person? I don't recall running into anyone with such a handle.

MT just sees the same collector who is private and buys everything. Really everything. No matter the price. It's annoying since it's a private collector, they seem quite snobby by not sharing any information what systems may lurk that we don't know about.

No one is really called the #1 Xbox person.

Competition Xboxes don't really come with documents, however the Mountain Dew console does, but that doesn't give away it's a competition system, as the Halo Combat Pack systems comes with a similar note. So it's very hard to determine the history behind them. Also who knows how many are produced, but most these are 3rd party paint jobs. Reason why I can say that is, the jewel in the middle is the Crystal Pack Limited, the same jewel can be found on the Conker Live and Reloaded console, along with the Playboy Competition system as well.
