Selling items now has 14% fee if you sell on ebay without a store, and use paypal.

If you have a store, fees for video games drops from 13% to 4%, however you now have to pay $16 a month for the store.

    What was it previously?

Seems a little extreme... surely eBay is making enough money already? Or are they suffering?

EDIT: https://www.google.com/finance?q=NASDAQ:EBAY Been going up steadily since the recession. Quit taking my money, assholes!

Asshats. Anyone else having an influx of buyers who just don't pay for stuff? I've had item after item by buyers even with 20+ positives where they don't respond to the so-called 'contract' if ebay are putting the fees up I'd like to see more help for sellers.

I've decided that ebay/paypal is a last resort for now on and have been looking at some alternatives.

ebid.net <--- seems like the strongest ebay alternative.
bitmit <--- Bitmit still pretty new but like the fact that it uses bitcoins.

The main problem is buyers just roll over and take it and as long as they continue to do ebay will push their luck.

I think I'd rather sell at a loss than sell with eBay.

I don't even use Ebay now, I'd rather deal with people directly than through E-bay. E-Bay is just an extreme last resort now.

Wish more people would use the BST section on this site or amibay :(

Ebid.net looks pretty cool they even have a subsite that's dedicated to South African customers, and auto calculates shipping accordingly , but sadly some @#$@#$@ added a whole catalog of cell phone batteries to some of the older console sections, making browsing very difficult.

    Bitmit.net looks dodgy.

And do you know what the funny thing is? You guys will still use EBay because there's no other option. EBay know this so they can rape the shit out of your pocket and get away with it. Yahoo really need to try a western service again. If they offered the same pricing as they do in Japan they'd make a killing of shitty EBay.

    Yahoo Japan Auctions offers
FREE Auctions to plat' members (I get 10 free per month)
    Easier auction set up
    Cheaper prices
No bull shit extra for adding more than 1 photo. Up to 3 is fine.
    Time extensions free of charge.
Far better photo system unlike the shit on EBay were you have a tinny crappy picture that you have to roll the mouse over.
No postal rules on prices and other shit.
No being forced to use certain payment methods
    and more.

The only down side is that there's a monthly members fee but this is also very cheap and only a few hundred yen or the price of 3 cans of Coke. No big deal. Actually the members fee may be for sellers only.

Some people here would consider this to be paying through the nose

A few 100 yen is nothing. That's about $3. Yahoo's commission rates are much lower too so paying $3 a month is a million times better than putting up with the shit EBay pull on it's customers. People shouldn't expect everything for free if they have a problem with $3 a month. But like I said, that's only for sellers as far as I remember. Buyers don't pay any fees apart from money transfer and even then that rate depends on how you want to pay so it's up to you. (Bank, Post office, credit card, face to face - cash in hand).

I was just referring to the people complaining about Xbox Live costing about the same per month :wink-new:

*k ebay. I rarely ever use it and don't dare to sell on it anymore. They keep making the way to browse the site worse with every update. I still don't mind paypal but their exchange rates are horrible =|

Also +1 wishing yahoo would come over.

Already given up on selling through eBay. Seller gets no protection. A buyer can leave neg for no reason but seller can't leave one even if they win non paying bidder claim and get FVF refunded. Buyer can claim box arrived empty, box had rock instead of goods, or box had counterfeit item. They keep the item and seller gets the shaft.

That reminds me I owe eBay $47 :/

eBay stores are really not worth the price, the same stuff shows up in the searches anyway...

If you sell a lot - the ebay stores mean you pay less fees. You only pay 4% instead of 10. But you have to pay a monthly or yearly fee (cant remember which) - which is only economical if you sell a lot.

So no, they are worth the price to big sellers

Its more than 10% anyway as you've got the fees from the paypal payment to deduct as well.

I sold one thing on there last week and I won't be doing it ever again.

i'm pretty sure it's still 10% + listing fee and 4% paypal fee in the uk for normal sellers, if it went up to 14% + 4% paypal it would be taking the piss, you may as well just give stuff away.
