Oh man, I saw Episode III last night at midnight, and it totally blew me away. Damn, there is so much asskicking in this movie... decapitations, arms and legs getting chopped off, plus (spoiler) when Anakin's whole body just MELTS next to the lava, holy shit. That took me by suprise, I thought Lucas was going to do the traditional hang-on-by-your-hands-over-a-ledge-and-then-fall-thing that we see so often in action movies. But when his stumps catch on fire and it slowly moves up his body, flesh peeling away while he's screaming in indescribeable pain " I HATE YOU!!!" Oh man, I was like shitting in my pants it was so cool.

This movie is definitely better than Jedi. Wookies kick Ewok's asses any day. Empire, well it's hard to compare to perfection. Empire is still the best, this one a close second.

I couldn't agree more. As per usual, you put my thoughts into words.

I agree with all of you. Empire continues to be the best, but Episode 3 is definitely superior to Return of the Jedi.
I went to the premiere down here and it was pretty tame, actually.

Did anyone else get a "shooter" kind of vibe from the first sequence, though? There's these two identical ships of different colours - and there's shit being shot up right and left and they just go between the beams and larger ships and stuff, shooting other ships.
Man, I just SO wanted to PLAY that, in a luvvy-wuvvy, wet and wild 2D kind of way.

The fights, also, were awesome. And there were so many little details.

    To quote Master SolidSharkey

"It kicks more ass than the asskicking robot sent from planet asskick... to Kick Your Ass!"

    Remember that scene in Clerks?

Dalton: What'd you like better Empire or Jedi?
    Randal: Jedi.
    Dalton: Balsphemy

I have it, but I only recently watched the movie again, and haven't gotten into the bonus material. It's own loan now, but plan on checking that stuff out when I get it back.

    Isn't it the 10th anniversary?

  7. Randal: Which did you like better, Return of the Jedi or Empire Strikes Back?
    Dante: Empire.
    Randal: Blasphemy!
Dante: Empire had the better ending. Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader is his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett - it all ends on such a down note, because that's what life is, a series of down endings. All Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets.

Of course, I love the discussion about Darth Vader being a Nubian god that takes place at the start of Chasing Amy as well. :smt034

Doesn't Kevin Smith refer to Star Wars as the "Holy Trilogy"?

Yeah, that scene in Chasing Amy is great

I saw it thursday and it is indeed very good, despite what about all the newspapers wrote :D
They did have a point about the dialogue being "functional" imho.

    *SPOILER*
Also, I found it quite odd how quickly Anakin "switched over" after Windu gets taken out! Plus, it's quite funny that the ships' interfaces go from super-duper colour touchscreens to flickering lights and huge buttons :)

There's an ISO out there that will burn to DVD. It's 1.4 Gigs...took me a while, even on a good connection. :(

Saw it today (in a theatre that was using digtial projector) and i must say DAMN THAT WAS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes up alot for episode 1 &2 and i do like how it really connects with star wars a new hope at the end, and the battles omg they were just so incredible, and the ending itself was just so touching.

Agree. In the space of an hour(movie time) he went from dobbing in Sidious to killing children. Also the bit at the end with Vader yelling "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" was cheesy as(and how did Sidious know Vader choked Padme?).
But was still a very cool movie.

He didn't know he choked her - but it was easier to manipulate him if he thought he killed her.

At least that's what I'd think.

The "NOOOO" was indeed cheesy, though.

you got the idea right, since anakian was turned to the dark side by palpetien(sorry dont know how to spell his name) by manipulating him.

  20. It reminded me of all the comedic scenes I've ever seen that play through in slow-motion, usually with the protagonist reaching out their hand while screaming, "NNNNNOOOOOOOOO!" I actually almost laughed at that part of Episode 3, but chose not to because I didn't want to disrupt the flow for everyone else. I also thought Vader looked ridiculously stilted and robotic struggling out of his restraints there.

Then again, the cheesiness of the scene was more than made up for by the fact that James Earl Jones was recast as the voice of Vader.

    SPOILER!!!-ish.

Speaking of goofy moments, the other scene that cracked me up was when Yoda gets in his little starship and flies away from Chewbacca and the other Wookie. The one line that came to my mind was, "Beee goooood.":smt043
