Those bloody Germans ... any way 13th june GROUP 2 ------------------- DENMARK 2 PORTUGAL 3 GERMANY 2 HOLLAND 1 LATER TODAY IRELAND V SPAIN will they stay or will they go
14th june GROUP 3 ----------------------- CROASIA 1 ITALY 1 IRELAND 0 SPAIN 4 England v sweden tonight (7.45 BST) prediction a 2-1 win for the lions
uhuhuh i predict a 2-2 from spain and croatia automatically sending out italy remember sweden-denmark 3-3?
That wouldn't do it if Italy beat Ireland by at least three goals (which I wouldn't say is impossible)
I think, karsten's right. It doesn't matter, how many goals Italy scores against Ireland. - http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/Regulations/competitions/Regulations/91/48/36/914836_DOWNLOAD.pdf
Huh, I thought goal difference was criterion #1. But I still think I'm right: if Spain and Croatia tie and Italy wins by more than three goals, Italy goes through since Italy-Croatia was a tie, so goal difference becomes the settling factor.
So you'd have to make a own chart just for Spain, Croatia and Italy (all 5 Points). That's why the goals scored in Italy-Ireland are not important. There's a good german wiki article ( http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direkter_Vergleich ) on this scenario, but I can't find a good explanation in english. The term is "tiebreaker" though.
Tbh, this is still very confusing, as I just discovered it yesterday. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but that's how I see it: Croatia - Spain 2:2 (1Pt.) Italy-Ireland Italy wins (3Pts.); goals don't matter: All 3 teams have 5Pts., so we need to compare them in a chart: (I can't get it working with Courier New :s) a) same points (4) b) same goal difference in the matches among the teams in question (0) c) higher number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question (Spain and Croatia one more than Italy) And Spain would be the group winner (8.07 d)), because they have 2 more goals than Croatia in ALL group games?! Or a penalty Shootout, as stated in 8.08? My head's about to explode.
anything above 1:1 (so 2:2 3-3 etc etc) sends us out immediatly and qualifies both spain and croatia... so it's impossible for them not to get an onorable draw that will save both
GRE-RUS... Same story. I've been watching almost every FIFA World Cup and big UEFA tournament since Italy '90 and this is the first time I've actually heard of this tiebreaker rule.... I don't get it.
ME too I thought russia could win this year and not to poo poo greece but germany are in the semi finals.... those bloody GERMANS 15th june GROUP 4 ---------------------- FRANCE 2 UKRAINE 0 ENGLAND 3 SWEDEN 2 16th june GROUP 1 --------------------- POLAND 0 CZK R 1 GREECE 1 RUSSIA 0 Bad luck poland
I'm surprised, but then again, four years is a pretty long time in football...and also, Guus Hiddink.
Kinda feel sorry for Russia, they definitely have a better structured team and overall played better in the tournament. Well, I guess that's the beauty in life, you can't be absolutely sure for anything. ps. Before the soccer match we also win Russia in a friendly basketball game in Lithuania. Coincidence or what?
Well, yesterday's results were unexpected, for certain. Today is going to be quite interesting. I just hope for whichever combination of results can boot out Portugal early so that CR9 shuts his fucking trap already, and goes back to doing his nails and shopping. I hate him so much. SO I guess I'm going to root for Denmark and Netherlands today, even though it's highly unlikely for any of them to win. Especially Netherlands. Damn. Still, the matches should both be interesting, and I'll certainly be watching.
Something went wrong and my post appeared twice. Maybe because I reopened the tab or something. I guess I'll add something useful and say that tomorrow's matches look extremely interesting, and it's fucking annoying that I'm going to be working at the time those matches will be played.
