Can you send me your contact's information? I have the same issue and would like to have my board repaired if I can't get patch the CD. fslbob
Was also receiving "Harware Error" on my Hell Night Board so had my RTC chip replaced recenty by JOMAC (Australia). After installation of new chip, on initial boot up, error changed from "Hardware Error" to "RTC Check - Bad". On advice from JOMAC I rebooted, held the Service Button Down and hit test to initialise the new RTC chip and game is now working perfectly. If you do replace the RTC chip,I suggest you install a socket to make future replacement easier.
"The Guru" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHrdP1FKyho sent mine to "the guru" in australia, I sent down a new rtc chip along with the boards, and he replaced and programmed a couple of the other main chips on the boards including the rtc, which he also identified and socketed the main chips in case it goes bad again in the future. I got to play it for 2 days then my gun died on me haha i coulda cried because I haven't played it since i was 9 but the point is my boards are working perfectly. for anyone who wants to know what evil night looks like booting up and working just go to that link and fastforward to a minute through i was talking a bit in the beginning but yeah there's the main idea. Long live the konami m2 lol
Sorry to revive an old thread but I thought I would add some definitive info for others in the future that encounter the Hardware Error following the 11K check. The binary file contained within the MAME zip file Evil Night Ver EAA will work to program a blank (new) M48T58Y RTC chip. The file name is m48t58y.9n . It will work with the US CD version 810 UB A02 . The ST M48T58Y can be programmed by most EPROM programers. Also, the following alternative DVD drives will work to replace the original drives used by Konami: GDR-8160B, GDR-8162B, GDR-8163B. The 8164 will not work, not sure about the 8161.
Afaik, you can also just insert the original game disc and press and hold the test switch when turning the system on. Hold it during the whole hardware check and it will reprogram the eeprom in the RTC chip. After a reboot, the 11K check should pass.
