Site Suggestion Exclude Shoutbox Forum from Default Search

Hey, I just noticed a workaround: Ignoring the user @shoutbox_bot makes all his shoutbox archive posts not show up in searches any more.

Also, a good starting point for a "real" solution might be this thread, if anyone wants to have a crack at it. Thing is, you need a moddable Xenforo installation to reasonably develop/test this stuff, which, as with all closed source shit fine commercial software might be a bit of a problem.

 

Issue with this is it's on an old code base that's got insecure functions. (Not checked but seeing as it's not updated I can only assume this.) That and since it was made in 2012 it's made for XenForo 1.3.x we're on 1.5.9 now and the way addons are created was changed in 1.5.x some people say it works but again it might not work here as some addons conflict.

Back on page 1 I did put a link to a paid addon that can do this but issue is it costs and not sure if @ASSEMbler would be willing to fork out $9.99 and then $5/year there after. It'll only add to the current costs such as renewing XenForo which is $40/year along with the other paid addons here like the media gallery think that's $15 also. (Don't have this addon myself so not sure.)

 

Thanks for the ignoring the bot info. I never thought of that. With the shoutbox blocked and shoutbox results hidden this forum has become perfect.

At most you should only need a weeks worth archived at a time. I would look into doing that. Also, welcome back.
