hey I still got Win98 running at home And yes I like it. More then XP. Which I think is crap. I use it at work so know what I'm talking about. I should upgrade though as some applications wont run on 98. I think I'll upgrade to 2000 then, but XP... dunno. I didn't like it from day 1 and nothing has changed.
Well Vista x64 is a resource whore, eating all my RAMs and drinking all my gigahurts. I don't want to install XP cause I despise activation, Linux is not really my thing (at least on my main system), and I need a new network card if I want to run OS X. I'm screwed really.
I've heard there is an (not legal at all) version of xp, with what appears to be some (i dont condone piracy) nice add on's.... you might want to give ubuntu a try linux wise, or perhaps xubuntu, or kubuntu, there surprisingly easy to work with compared to xp. That being said, which would be the cheapest online store to pick up a copy of WinXP (any version) Cheers Ryan
I'm working on a new site for myself, and i was wondering something I have the site designed with tables, and i was wondering if its possible to click a link, that would load a different image in another exsisting table on the same page.... ex:...i have a left and right table and in the left table there is 3 links for 3 images, and in clicking these links the images appear in the table on the right....... ...oh.....and can it be done by simple html?
RGGG, some schools sell Windows for a good price...as far as I know Home edition upgrade is 80$US MSRP, but at my college I got Vista Home Premium for 60$US.
I've got XP Pro retail, so it pisses me off so much that I'm treated like a criminal (Online activation doesn't work anymore)
I'd wait till at least the 1st Service Pack before I'd install Vista as a main OS. Till then its just not stable enough! Same thing with XP, was buggy as hell till SP1. Till then just install it through VMware or similar
i d hate to migrate from XP because this time around the change in OS is not that radical as it was from 98->XP for the simple user. Vista eats resources that XP would have given to applications instead of itself.
It also doesn't have great DOS support with anything wanting to run in full screen mode quitting out. Gee thanks Microsoft, can't see why you can't just buy DOSbox and bundle it with Vista. They also seem to have different system fonts for certain menus and boxes so things look weird and even broken in a few instances. They want to treat you like an idiot, with putting things back to Windows 2000 ways being harder then it should be. I also can't see why if I want to use some of Aeros features, why I should use the frankly disgusting and noddy like Aero theme, the Classic theme looks better and ALT+TAB should bring up screens of the programs rather then the legacy icons. Seems to be you do it our way or we'll take the ball away... With XP more programs did run, even some Windows 3.1 games I have. With Vista, it cries and gives up. :/ Funnily enough Reversi for Windows 1.0 does work on Vista, it steals 80% of the CPU time but it works... Looking forward to SP1.
...you know its bad when you most used application in Vista is " Program Failure Reports"(or whatever they called it) Its at the top of my start menu only by the number of times i've used it........go figure
The laptop I'll be purchasing has Vista but I'm going to wipe it for XP mainly because it's GPU isn't strong enough to handle Aero like I want it to. That and XP works just fine for me.
I installed Vista the other day on my main computer, and I have to say that I don't really care for it. It looks pretty, but I had a hell of a time getting it to recognize my wireless adapter. On top of that, the few games I tried running didn't work, although this may have something to do with the operating system being on a seperate partition. I'm probably going to wait until the next service pack and see what everyone says on it. I *might* buy it by then.
