I've been catching up and watching top gear alot lately, and I must say it's one of my all time favorite shows. The challenges themselves add another element to the show. Anyone have their favorite challenge? Mine definitely has to be when they had to build their own limos. That had to be their most hilarious episode.
My favourites (couldn't choose one, sorry) 1- African Challenge - 10x04 2- Italian mid-engine supercars for less than £10,000 - 07x04 3- 2 door coupé for less than £1,500, that isn't a Porsche - 06x02 4- £100 Legal road cars - 04x01 5- Monte Carlo race (Train vs Aston Martin DB9) - 04x03 6- Amphibious cars - 08x03 7- Convertible People Carrier - 08x01 8- Find a 'pearl' among a collection of cars from the Pacific Rim - 05x09 9- British Leyland cars for £1,200 - 10x07 10- Finding the greatest driving road in Europe - 10x01 11- Nissan GT-R versus Japanese Bullet Train - 11x04 12- The English (Top Gear) vs. The Germans (D Motor) - 11x06 13- Caterham Seven kit car - 08x07
With "X-Factor" now meandering into "I'm a Celeb get me out of here" and back again my Saturday evening's have turned into catching up with "Top Gear" and "Have I got news for you" on iPlayer. My favorite challenge was when Jeremy Clarkson tried to kill that 4 x 4 that now hangs on the steep podium in the studio. Just proved how tough those bastards are. Part1 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrk6vsb77xk Part2 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0Uc4Ksz3nHM&feature=iv&annotation_id=event_480890 Part3 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YfZDtC9kjVk Second to that, their recent truck driving exploits were hilarious. The best bit was that 3 blokes who assumed they knew everything about driving were placed in lorries, having had no training other than a brief introduction and discovered that driving cars is a piece of piss compared to handling 18 gears! They should try a tractor race across Britain whilst hauling a trailer.
Yeah, I remember this one and they really were shitting themselves. Could have all gone terribly wrong! :banghead:
My favorite challenge was when they though they could do a better job at police cars. When i first saw that i was in a fit of laughter throughout the whole challenge. All the challenges are good though and i think that all the challenges and stupidity within the show is what makes it good.
I personally enjoyed seeing them learn how to be truckers  In series 10 when they made their own police cars was also a laugh. To be honest, all Top Gear challenges are good. If any of you guys want a fav' episode I have them all in fantastic quality. Can't wait for tonight's show although I'll have to wait until Monday before I can see it here in Japan. By the way, do you American guys see the same one shown in the UK? I just wonder since they're always taking the piss out of American cars and French cars come to think of it  Yakumo
"I have new pictures of the Dacia Sandero" The show started again and I didn't even notice, I will have the entire last season at once!
Only time Ive ever seen Top Gear on is on BBC America, and yeah, its the same. Hey, I cant complain when they speak the truth Never really looked for it on any other channels, though I wish I had true BBC channels, would be awesome
They are not always saying bad things about American cars! Did you not see the most recent review in the USA of 3 muscle cars? They loved every second, although the only way they could obtain a visa to enter the USA was to ensure that their reporting was 'factual' and not classed as 'entertainment'. http://www.topgear.com/uk/videos/more-muscle#/uk/videos-by-category?VideoCategory=Popular Though I completely agree with their criticism of certain French cars.
I'd thought the Reliant Robin episode was pretty damn cool. When it originally aired on Discovery channel they were pretty chopped up. I think the ones shown on BBC America are slightly edited to fit US commercial standards but otherwise uncut. They don't edit any of the slams though otherwise that first US trip would never had aired over here.
I was surprised when I watched the most recent episode that they actually liked their muscle cars. Seems like they had a much better stay in america this time then last time (hilarious how they kept trying to not make it entertaining due to their visa). Though them not liking American cars doesn't bother me at all. I fully agree with them, I'm surprised they don't mention how often you got take most American cars to the shop, that's why I only get a Japanese cars really. Yeah it's shown here on bbc america, but some footage is cut to fill in for commercials. Only thing I could tell is probably the news, which makes sense as a lot of it here is reruns so the news is outdated by the time it's show here. Only 2 episodes left for this season. Probably see the newest episode Mon or Tues, whenever it's posted. Sadly bbc america doesn't show current episodes, so I got use other means of seeing new episodes sadly. Oh yeah for Clarkson fan's here's a hilarious clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMuO-8S_0Wg
Building a rocket. That was incredible. Especially at the end (no spoilers.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTFU4eI5IRA
What it's cool about all those challegens (including the ones i posted) is that, even though i watched them lots of times, they're still hilarious. Still the scene that makes me laughing non stopping, has to be when Hammond is laughing desperately at the end of the Amphibious cars episode. (the first one). Priceless! See why: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzxuEOxYSLE
Yep, saw that. Seen them all. I'm one major Top Gear fan. The missus can't understand why I find the show so interesting. Yakumo
Yeah, but she's female. And Japanese. Can't say I've seen a whole lot of Japanese Female pistonheads! Well, any for that matter! My favourite was probably the Italian Supercar one... at least, I think that's the one..... where the windscreen wiper breaks and flaps around or something like that, and they have to pull in at a garage and get a petrol leak! Funny stuff!!
Isn't that the one where the soft buggers park their Italian super cars in an indoor parking lot then couldn't get them out due to the exit drop being too steep on to the road.? That one was so funny. The stupid sods  Yakumo
I don't think that the one as in the one your thinking of as they were in new cars i believe and that was in paris or someplace like that?? Could be wrong though. The bit i quite liked from that one is right at the end were James says "One observation i would have. Sailing, REALLY BORING"
That was in my mind the funniest one ever..........still piss my-self when watching this I do tend to find though that a lot of them are not as "spontaneous" as you would think they are Like the Convertible people carrier, Yeh I can just see them blowing up a car wash, or the caravanning one, again running over other tents then setting fire to them I am getting old I know, but the one that got on my nerves was last year when they did I think either Comic Relief or Children in Need when they trashed Sir Steve Redgraves garden..........now for my money, you could tell he was not in on the prank as how would you feel if you came back and your garden was a war zone Sayting that I still don`t miss an episode, still watch repeats on Dave and the recent 1 tank of petrol was entertaining And I know who the STIG is as well
