You are missing the point. You know can get the game for 10 bucks, instead of the ripoff price on ebay and any other places. No one is making you buy it though. Anyway i think it's good to have the option to re-play these games for cheap. Overrated or not, it's there for people who want it. PS: I honestly think that recent/newer FF games are way more overrated than FFVII.
I bought it last night, spent a few hours playing it this evening after work, and it still rocks. If you don't like FFVII, so be it, but it still stands as an excellent game, full of humour (cross dressing in a brothel? awesome!) and even though the PS3/PSP save thing will piss me off as I will be wanting to play it on the big screen as well as on the move, I am still happy. My only gripe is I can't tell Aerith to piss off and go sleep with Tifa instead...
PSP/PS3 save file sync? Well not quite, but there IS a way, I just came off testing the idea and it worked. First, hook up your PSP to the PS3 by using a USB cable, it should automatically go into USB mode (on the PSP side) Then go to Memory Card Utility in the game's column. At the top you should find your PSP there (if there are any save files/memory cards). Go into the directory and choose the save file you want to copy FROM the PSP to the PS3, and choose a destination virtual-memcard on the PS3. (pressing TRIANGLE brings up the copy option in case you forgot) Resume gameplay on your PS3 from where you left off on the PSP. Now for the reverse, go to the Memory Card Utility again, but this time choose the applicable virtual memory card on the PS3 system, enter the directory, choose the file and press triangle, select COPY, answer "yes" with regard to conversion, choose a destination and confirm the overwriting query. It's quite tedious, especially when you re stoned/drunk/have lots on your mind or are just an idiot but it should be enough. Don't expect to do this every day unless you want to challenge your brain into mental gymnastics. I hope Sony addresses this whole save file thing with a sync OPTION but its implementation just boggles my mind when I try to think how they could do it right.
Is it widescreen, or is there that banner there that was in the demo vid? No one's answered that question of mine.
Grandia is about the only one I'd consider replaying. The first one is great...but a bit long (50+ hours). Grandia II isn't bad, and they all pretty much suck after that.
psx games weren't widescreen, they're all natively displayed in 4:3 aspect ratio. there is no banner. you can stretch them through ps3 menu to fill black bars but that doesn't look attractive.
Thank you for answering. I didn't figure there was true widescreen, but forced works for me. I just don't like have two big black bars on either end, and I sure didn't like the moving graphics they had in those spaces in the demo vid. Thanks bud.
I found zoom mode worked fine so it was full screen, all the menu/text boxes were just at the edge of the screen, and there's not a lot you are missing at the extreme top/bottom of the game short of a bit of scenery.
Right, I copied the saves with Barc0de's information, but have found a problem. As my PS3 is Japanese, it will not play PAL PSN PS1 games, I first had a problem with Silent Hill, but that was mysteriously withdrawn so assumed this was the reason as I was getting a "content cannot be played in this video mode" error. I asumed it was a scaling problem with me using HDMI, but I am getting the same thing with FFVII. It seems PSN PS1 games are region coded, while all the other content seems to be region free. I have downloaded tons of Japanese/UK PSN content and had no problems until now. Buyer beware... I am a sad puppy now... can't play FFVII on the TV now unless I dig out the old PS2 and have it looking crap through SCART.
I'm not sure this is correct. I have a japanese PS1 PSN game and it works fine for me. I am in the USA though. Are you running your PS3 through component or HDMI? The reason I ask is that Scart/Composite would probably cause problems (PAL vs NTSC).
Not necessarily. Has digital downloading actually lowered the prices for the original versions of games like Ikaruga and Rez? Of course, most people who want to buy FF7 are probably not collectors, so they won't care what format it's on and wouldn't want to buy that much for a PS1 game.
HDMI, the only thing I can think of is as the game will be running in PAL and the machine is Japanese, thats where it is going wrong, and giving the "cannot play in this video mode" error. While PAL machines can display PAL and NTSC without any problems, I am not so sure about NTSC machines being able to display PAL content.
