Life on mars was quite good, also has a second season featuring a different star called "Ashes to Ashes". Entourage was pretty good too.

Try out 'Being Human' A new BBC show involving a vampire werewolf and a ghost sharing a house in england (sounds awful but its very well done).

Also what other have said: Band of Brothers, Spaced, Lost (I love it so much I get excited each episode).

Life on Mars had 2 seasons/series :) Ashes to ashes would be a third, if you choose to view it as continuing, with a new series for Ashes due any month now.

That was a great show, I just wish the ending hadn't been such a cliffhanger/non-ending. I know it got canceled and all, I just wish they could have really wrapped it up.

I second that! I've just watched the first 2 seasons of "Life on Mars" and I am about to buy the first season of "Ashes to Ashes". Buy the UK version as the USA version is nowhere near as gritty or interesting.

Normally I can't be bothered watching TV at all, but this series really caught my attention. Brilliant scripts, great casting and has an interesting ending... leading to "Ashes to Ashes" which features some of the same cast, but is set in a different decade. Hard to explain, just watch it!

I watch comedy pretty much exclusively (when I'm by myself, anway).

    So...

I'll second 30 Rock...and I'm really surprised nobody else has...Easily the best comedy on American television right now. I don't understand how people can watch "How I Met Your Mother" or "The Big Bang Theory." So terribly terrible that I have to change the channel.

I personally consider King of the Hill to be an absolute hoot. People seem to crap on it for some reason...but theres a reason it has run for 13 years. It's gotten a tad weak in its final season...but it's an excellent cartoon that flows at a sitcom style pace, as opposed to Family Guy (Ungh...so terrible, might as well have no plot) and The Simpsons which has strayed away from (but is now working back towards) the simpler, less zany plots that charmed us all so many years ago.

I've seen some Seinfeld metioned...and well, you definitely can't go wrong watching that.

I'll also recommend House. As someone mentioned, it's a tad formulaic, but Hugh Laurie is damn good. Not my favorite show, but if I find it on, it certainly won't make me change the channel.

Ah...if you haven't seen the new Dr. Who, get it. So very very very very very fun. But beyond that...I'm not too well versed in British TV right now. Seriously though, one of the best television shows out there.

Ah...and if you have access to it, I'd suggest Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report." It has a political slant, but you can really ignore it and enjoy Stephen Colbert's antics. Kind of the sort of show that you should watch often though...it's much more rewarding when you get his repeated jokes.

I'd say that my general advice for watching American TV is to watch NBC most of the time, occasionally Fox and NEVER CBS or ABC.

Seriously. NBC is usually decent any weeknight from 8PM to 1:30 AM. Fox can usually fill in the gaps where what's on NBC isn't my cup of tea.

If your into comedy, try starting on "Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia". IMO, hands down the funniest show currently on air.

    OOOOOooooohhhh...

I sorta watched them. I have a bad habit of fast forwarding through movies instead of watching them. I've seen so many in my day, most movies I try to watch aren't interesting enough for me to spend the whole two hours watching. So I watch them in like 40 minutes instead.
