Looks like someone decided to make a jab at the so-called Coleco Chameleon. Ugh, did they REALLY have to slap the Coleco name on that thing? They certainly don't have any imagination.
They were going to go with Kickstarter the first time, but only now they have a "prototype" that was slapped together in an hour.
I just want to know if there will be a toilet bowl shaped CD ad-on..I mean, if you're using a Jaguar case, lets go all the way.
It'll play 3DO games, Saturn games, Atari Jaguar CD games, Turbo CD games, Sega CD games, Dreamcast games (even though they're on a different format), PS1, even SNES-CD games! EDIT that should probably be its own post. Guys, I just heard some terrible news. Retro VGS is delaying their upcoming Kickstarter (source: https://www.facebook.com/RETROVGS/posts/954528881283049 why do I follow them on facebook?). Apparently the response was so overwhelming that they need to solidify their relationships with game companies (surrrre) and retailers (HA) for the Christmas 2016 season. Oh and also to finalize their prototope SNES Jr. board.
they put up a photo of their system with a clear top. it looks to have an off the shelf demo pcb in it.. Maybe it's the actual console PCB but I have a feeling it's one of those DEV boards that have a CPU ect on them for beginnings of development.. Like this one for the Rockchip cpus
Do you think they picked that board so its size would come close to matching the SNES Jr "prototype" board they used?
I doubt it would be one of these Rockchip ARM CPU dev boards, just used it as an example. Basically I'm thinking they whacked the off the shelf demo/dev board for whatever chip they are using to drive the system... Yes they would have a 'prototype' then but they still didn't build anything (apart from software..) At this price point, I doubt it's going to be anything more than a overpriced SOC like the cheap NES clones you can get. They are probs opting for an FPGA in a QFP rather than glob tops used in many other systems... I see this being an updated SOC clone system, remember there are ways to run Genesis games on a SNES... Unless they are reprogramming the board every time you switch systems.... They would have made more money just selling new Jag cases TBH
Are you shitting me? Is this for real? oh man, these guys need a good and proper kicking for all this bull shit.
Great, this will now be stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Damn you... Also this is indeed getting messier than I initially expected. Moar popcorn.
I swear this is one of those stories where someone is caught in a lie and keeps lying to escape his previous lies. At this rate I don't think I'd be surprised if we found out he didn't even buy the Jag shell mold.
